Marillion got signed by EMI in the second half of 1982, just earlier that year they were playing small pubs and clubs and anywhere that would have them. Recital Of The Script was filmed at...
Well yes, I saw Hackett many times when he didn't play any Genesis at all but by about 2010 his pulling power dwindled and he had to do the G thing which has proved very popular. I would argue...

Although I enjoyed it I always wondered why when it was a DG solo show he included so much Floyd even having the same ending as the 80's and 90's shows. Also disappointing how he ignored his first...
They were great times. It was really exciting seeing all these bands emerge, it was the second wave of Prog - nobody called it Neo Prog at the time. Sadly the usual indifference and 'we need a hit...
Just realised that's Pallas's guitars on the front cover, if only some video existed..

Andrew Wild wrote the Twelfth Night book 'Play On' which is very good. I think I should get this as I was there at the Marquee from '83 onwards. So many great shows from Solstice, Pendragon, Twelfth...

They announced quite awhile back that they won't be touring for this album for personal reasons whatever that means.

Yeah, Rattle had some great moments but a lot of it was skippable so not expecting too much except some great guitar playing hopefully. If he could have the songs more in the vein of On An Island or...

Oh yeah!
Yes, although I can't find the videos now, John Mitchell was having a a very difficult time playing the right notes at that gig which I thought was strange - under rehearsed I suppose.
Well there's still time yet, all the other 40th anniversary releases were rather late and Grace was still a platinum album so hopefully we'll get some good bonus live stuff.
Might be interesting since I grew up in South London..
Thanks, will check that one out too - my cup overfloweth!
Just been listening to Quiet Music 1-3 and Reflections in Repose on Bandcamp- wow, just amazing.
^^^ interesting. Plumpton Race Course is not too far from me, I can see it down in the distance from the South Downs Way. Don't suppose they have any gigs on these days, it would frighten the horses....
Thanks very much for the recommendations [emoji3]

I've been going on a bit of a binge for Electronic/Ambient/Space music lately. Just discovered the mountainous discography of Steve Roach and bought a download of the first cd of Structures From...
I have The Blue Notebooks and From Sleep on cd. Steven Wilson got me interested too and the film Arrival which has The Nature of Daylight as its main theme if I remember right. Sleep is interesting...
I don't know if you know but Ebony released her first album a couple of years ago, there is a video for each of the songs and it's up on Bandcamp - highly recommended.

^^^^ Yes, that's how I discovered them.
I don't think Azure have ever been mentioned here before. They are a young English band from Brighton here on the south coast who are releasing their 3rd full length album called 'Fym' next month....
The last verse....when the full band come back in on "the moon is rising" line, its a golden prog moment. This album is likely to be my fave of the year I think.

I must play my 40 year old vinyl soon.
Not that it affects me in the UK but I would hope they do some dates of their own in the US too....

Carrying No Cross has always been a slow burner for me, something of an overlooked classic. It really has to be listened to closely to really appreciate it which I think I'm going to do right now.
First show at the O2 in London, no pressure then! :lol
I remember going to see Rick on the Out There tour about 20 years ago. Damian Wilson was on the album but...him and Rick had fallen out. Guess who was drafted in at short notice? The unmatchable...
I thought about reading the list and becoming suitably outraged. Then I thought about writing my own list that others could be outraged about. But I didn't bother.
English 'fantasy prog' band Azure have their new double cd album 'Fym' coming out in May. Pre orders are now up:

I have to agree, I'd much rather listen to Open Your Eyes, Union or Heaven & Earth than Talk, even 90125 or BG are not quite as bad, it is without doubt the bottom of the barrel for me. Just MY...
It still does to me aged 60, listening to that album when in the right frame of mind is like a sort of meditation and it still sounds different every time I play it.
Well that would apply to all vinyl releases since the boom of cd and the subsequent resurgence of vinyl sales in recent years. People are not so worried about sound quality, its just nice to have...
^^^ Lol! I love Tales, that is top 3 for me along with GFTO and Relayer. Maybe it would be fair to say that Tales and Talk are diametrically opposed.
Isn't it strange? Talk is for me the most detested Yes album ever and yet you rate it with what are my faves too. We all hear different things that's for sure.
Heaven & Hell and The Mob Rules are my two fave metal albums
Hi fi mainly, also in the car. I use you tube, bandcamp and other free streamers to discover new music but for listening it's cd, vinyl, blu rays and downloads played via USB input on my marantz cd...
Talking of NAD, I got myself a fully restored and repaired 3020 today, it looks as good as new and sounds wonderful.

The more you think about it wasn't it amazing that Prog was so successful and sold millions in the first place?
RIP Steve Harley, an icon of my youth.
It used to be a great thing but they stopped because they ran out of material to remaster.
Anyone else listening to the new album? I think it's my fave BBT album ever, really loving it.
If we're looking at the same thing then I would say these paintings are very similar to many that have already been used for Yes.
Having played the album a couple more times I'm really loving The Likes of Us now. Great songs, a new great voice, superb playing and production, this gets a big thumbs up from me. Best tracks The...
All of that was irrelevant apart from Number 4 to my lived experience here in the UK where Punk actually started.
