    ???? Eh... No!

Very (in)famous band that wasn't very original in it's approach (at the very end of the 70s)

    Babylon?
I thought they had more than one album, but maybe one was an archival release.

Yes that is what is played in the movie but that's a cover version of what well known Prog band (not from the UK)?

Nobody, ok. The original is the title track of Le Orme's Debut album Ad Gloriam.

    ^^

A few hints: They are actually a Italian Heavy prog band that changed the bands name after their debut album.
They also hired the drummer of an even better known Prog band (and the lovely Lady) afterwards.

They had 2 keyboard-players, but Keith Hale also played with Toyah (wife of Robert Fripp), Hawkwind and Ginger Baker.

I guessed correctly. About 17 seconds in, I suspected it was P-Mo, and concluded that by 22 seconds.

Yes Hale (or Hayle) wrote Toyahs greatest hit (it's a Mystery) played for Hawkwind (and sang on Dangerous Vision) and also on Comus second album.

His brother played in a progband and also with this group, that also had another member of the progband.
