A Dutch band! I guess i have to get this one too then;-)

I got 'a sophisticated face' a few years back and I found it.......difficult. Never really clicked with me. I will try again with this one though.

I had the same experience with 'A Sophisticated Face'. Time to give them another go.

I blame Wynton, what was the question?

A Sophisticated Face is an extremely difficult work.

Comparatively speaking, Wire Stitched Ears is a breeze. Listen to the streaming tracks. You'll see!!
And it was off the hizzle amazing live!!

and - Hey! - since we are here. For the Americans here.

Does Thanksgiving make it harder to take advantage of a BC sale? If I extended it an additional day (ending end of day Monday) would that make a positive difference in your lives / purchases?

Makes no difference to me but I'm staying home and hosting so will be able to check it out, it will probably be difficult for anyone traveling, I'd suggest letting next weekends go through Monday.

Puristsirup (their first) and WSE are their most "rocky" efforts and both contain some splendid fun. They become much heavier and aggressive on Stringy Rugs (my personal fave) and then again even denser and more dissonant on A Sophisticated Face. The latter is arguably the most musically challenging piece of work I ever heard from Cuneiform; about as tight and intricate as Woodson's Ellipsis, but way more angular, edgy, direct and "offensive" - like Trout Mask interpreted as chamber-rock.

Interestingly, Wire Stitched Ears is the one Blast album where they most resemble later spinoffs Brown Vs. Brown. IMHO. Great stough fer sure.

Oh well I love Brown vs Brown so that makes it an easy decision.

I love Blast. I usually sneak in some Cow or vise versa since my head is in that zone at that time. Different yet some similarities.

I had all the HTM except this one - not sure why I didn't get it -maybe because of the reviews of sound quality.

It is a bit rough but fantastic to hear the energy they were putting into this material live - thanks Steve.

OK! Got it this morning and will give it a listen soon. I've got Måltid, No Make Up & 1983 and really like 'em so I'm sure to enjoy this one too.

Wow. After all that, I feel completely heroic and exceedingly well-behaved for merely spamming y'all (not yall) with this week's special!

This week's special is "Goodbye Svengali" by Ray Russell

I just bought the CD as I don't yet have a music server. (Coming soon tho!) I've heard a lot of great things about this band, but have never investigated. Thanks Steve!
