Sorry man, I'm French, not Kobaian ! ;-)
Seriously, though, I have no idea.

Since Aymeric replied, I can maybe attempt an answer.
I think Vander actually put the word "Zeuhl" into journalists' mouths.

In other words, he came up with the word (and genre) derived from "soul" music, though I remember watching an interview that sometimes he wished he hadn't.

    As to when, no idea.
my music collection increased tenfolds when I switched from drug-addicts to complete nutcases.

I see Rudy has taken over head shaking from the dearly departed Phillip!

Got the 7vinyl MDK box as a gift! Super excited about it. Started with Trianon 2000 - the instrumental/semi-improvised part in the second part just blows away any jazz/fusion band I have ever listened to.

Regarding Magma – Mythes Et Légendes Epok V DVD.

Does anyone know what song plays in the menu after the ending credits? It only plays that way. If you go directly to the menu, the song does not play but if you let the DVD finish, when it goes back to the menu it plays a song with Christian singing and with keyboards on the background, clocking at 3:23.
Maybe it is a known Magma song but I am not familiar with all of their discography...

    Thanks in advance.

I just received a Bandsintown email that says Magma are coming to Charlotte, North Carolina. That can’t be right, right???

It looks like Bandsintown is the only website mentioning concerts by Magma at all, one in the US on my birthday and one in Europe. All other sites say no concerts by Magma are planned and their own site is under construction.

They kept telling me Yugen were coming to Boston but apparently it was another band with the same name.

None of their social media makes any such statement. And their concert schedule was announced some time ago. I wonder if the site has confused them with the Mexican band Magma?

^ I don’t even think it’s that! When I checked out the venue’s site, a band called The Afters are playing.

I’m guessing an algorithm screwed something up. (But I’m still hoping Magma are playing in CLT next month.)

Carhaix festival (France) in august is ok. The US date is a mistake.

Revisiting this clip after some time and played it through. The one striking thing I learned from this was that Julie Vander had leukemia. Wow, did not know this. But Chassol does ask very good questions.

From the Magma Zeuhl group on fb :
Rockin Pins has restored the 1977 ‘Hippodrome’ concert in 2K from the original 16mm print and will be doing screenings in US theaters.
[the TV edit, I suppose, not the whole concert].

In the comments : "let me recoup my initial investment then I can plan a blu ray".

I have a couple of interesting photos that were just posted on instagram by Keiko Kifune, who is a long-time fan of the band, and whom I met in Japan all the way back in 1988! What makes them interesting is that one photo has Isabelle hanging with Emanuel Borghi and Himiko Paganotti, while the other is the band outside their rehearsal area. Not sure if this means anything, but there it is- Mani and Himiko hanging with the band in the past few days.

Emmanuel has been playing again with Vander in his trio (though not recently) for a few years, and even played a couple of gigs with Magma in 2019, so the hatchet has been buried for some time. Don't expect Bussonnet to hang out with Magma these days, though. Then again, Manu and the Paganottis leaving in 2008 was their own decision, unlike the 2019 'purge'.

I think the loss of Bussonnet was profound. I am sorry that they left on such poor terms. I do wonder what brought Mani and Himiko to that rehearsal session, though. Maybe just to visit.

I agree. If ol' Zëbëhn Sträin de Güstäh ever made a tactical error, it was this.
