    Great label.
Hardscore! I know them! I’ve got all three(?) of their studio albums, and they were a really good group. Monkey Trial is my favorite. Sorry, I got excited when I recognized one of the names you listed.

Thought about getting that AKA Moon box set that surfaced a while back. They sounded pretty interesting...

Didn’t know Carbon 7 was defunct though. That’s a bummer.

Guy Segers is, AFAIK, co-owner of Carbon 7 Records and also, he was part of Univers Zero before joined Present.
Next, an interview made by the remembered Vitaly Menshikov (VM) to Guy Segers (GS) back in 2004:

    http://www.progressor.net/interview/guy_segers.html

"- VM: Along with Daniel Denis and Robert Trigaux, you stood at the cradle of Univers Zero, whose history began in May 1974. You were very young then and, yet, you were completely prepared to play a highly complicated music, which demanded not only the high performance professionalism, but also the knowledge of specific harmonic laws. Did you listen to any avant-garde classical composers at that time? Please elaborate on your musical background.

    - GS: Well, surprisingly none of us had made any school, so we didn't know anything about rules. But we where listening to many different things, and musicians such as Soft Machine, Captain Beefheart, Magma, Miles Davis, Stravinsky, Bartok, Tony Williams Lifetime, Manfred Mann's Chapter Three, etc did bring us a kind of direction on emotional and technical level."

    Regards,
    Tomás.
There is a separate thread here https://www.progressiveears.org/foru...ght=guy+segers A great album indeed, one of the best of 2019.

^ All three Hardscore albums are impeccably 'professional' in sound, and indeed they needed to be for those intricate compositions to come alive. From what I understand, Nuyts was initially a music student who basically enlisted fellow musicians to rehearse and perform his work as part of an academic project. The first Hardscore record, albeit very impressive, still has a bit of that 'school-feeling' about it. By the time of Surf, Wind and Desire they were apparently more of an integral unit, but I don't know if they ever played live or anything. Anyway they were one of the better Zappa'esque ensembles out there, although I suspect the likeness would strike some listeners as a bit clinical in nature. Of course you could say that about folks like Jono El Grande as well.

"[...] things that we never dreamed of doing in Crimson or in any band that I've been in," - Tony Levin speaking of SGM

    Genre twisting prog-jazz from Belgium.

Similar tonal palette to bands like Tortoise, Jaga Jazzist and Claudia Quintet.

no tunes, no dynamics, no nosebone

wow... people make fun of Gabriel's lapse between albums
it's been forever since Breant released his other 2 excellent albums
Why is it whenever someone mentions an artist that was clearly progressive (yet not the Symph weenie definition of Prog) do certain people feel compelled to snort "thats not Prog" like a whiny 5th grader?

Solo electric guitar may not be every music lovers cup o' tea but this new release by Bill Orcutt merits a listen or two or ten, imo.Several tracks have overdubs.Sounds at times somewhat like Sonny Sharrock's solo record "Guitar".A winner;I'm enjoying it more with every listen.
