^ All three Hardscore albums are impeccably 'professional' in sound, and indeed they needed to be for those intricate compositions to come alive. From what I understand, Nuyts was initially a music student who basically enlisted fellow musicians to rehearse and perform his work as part of an academic project. The first Hardscore record, albeit very impressive, still has a bit of that 'school-feeling' about it. By the time of Surf, Wind and Desire they were apparently more of an integral unit, but I don't know if they ever played live or anything. Anyway they were one of the better Zappa'esque ensembles out there, although I suspect the likeness would strike some listeners as a bit clinical in nature. Of course you could say that about folks like Jono El Grande as well.

Solo electric guitar may not be every music lovers cup o' tea but this new release by Bill Orcutt merits a listen or two or ten,imo.Several tracks have overdubs.Sounds at times somewhat like Sonny Sharrock's solo record "Guitar".A winner;I'm enjoying it more with every listen.
