You're shitting me! OK. You're not... I checked the link. What's next: the "In the Hot Seat" superdeluxe edition? Talk? Open Your Eyes?

Well, whatever, we live in a capitalist world and if these make money so be it. I guess somebody will buy it and enjoy it.

I wonder if Amazon jumped the gun a little bit. The countdown clock at pinkfloyd.com still has a little over 18 minutes left on it (as I type this).

    Aiyeeeeeeeee.

I like the album and all, but it doesn't scream "£148.99 deluxe edition."

I'm sure they'll be offering a number of editions. I, for one, would be happy to get the two CDs, but I have no interest in the vinyl.

I will likely spring for this. The 1994 tour is the only "proper" PF show I ever got to see, and I did very much enjoy the album. I'll be curious to see what all the various extras are (hopefully one is that Ambient Bell thing I've heard about from various sources over the years).
If you're actually reading this then chances are you already have my last album but if NOT and you're curious:

Also, Ephemeral Sun: it's a thing and we like making things that might be your thing: https://ephemeralsun.bandcamp.com

Do you mean the soundscape that was played before the concerts, and included on the "Pulse" cassette?

Nnnnnno...I think that was just an extended version of the intro stuff from Cluster One. At least, at the DC show in RFK that's what that was.

I think this is what I was referring to: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of...The_Big_Spliff

I had to check this wasn't April 1st. A bizarre decision. I mean, I like some of the album quite a bit, but I don't see that it has anything like enough of a following for many to want to shell out big bucks on a box set of it. (Cue the inevitable 'I'll buy one, it's better than their Syd Barrett stuff any day!' responses)

And still 'Scream Thy Last Scream' and 'Vegetable Man' languish in the vaults. And still no sign of a mass-market compilation of all their 60s singles. But never mind, here's a box set of a 90s album!

I generally don't spring for these re-releases, but this ^^ would definitely get me to buy this. Sounds very cool.

Except that The Division Bell was better than all those albums put together.

But I agree it's a different story when one is discussing the entire Floyd discography...
I'm holding out for the Wilson-mixed 5.1 super-duper walletbuster special anniversary extra adjectives edition.

The "listen" option on the main page leads me to believe that the CD included in the package is just the 2011 remaster, which I already have. Looks like I'll be passing on this one.

I think the album is OK, but this set looks like a total and complete waste of time and money. Even if someone handed it to me for free I might balk because it looks like it takes up a lot of valuable shelf space for not much return.

Wow...all I can say is: and people complain about the prices of the King Crimson boxes!

The Floyd boxes have all been excessively pricey, IMO, for what you get. At least, with crimson, you get a whole shitload of music...

    absolutely... on both points

Meddle would have been the next in my book

but TDB is a great album nonetheless
Why is it whenever someone mentions an artist that was clearly progressive (yet not the Symph weenie definition of Prog) do certain people feel compelled to snort "thats not Prog" like a whiny 5th grader?

    Absolutely ridiculous money grab.

I've been collecting all the 5.1 reissues by Crimson-Oldfield-Genesis (and now Yes)--that's the way it should be done. Decently priced, well-done reissues for the true fan who should not be fleeced by ridiculously priced sets just because they are a fan.

It really is kind of hard to see the merit in this one.
