Happy we could amuse you, at least the losses have some value
The thing is, to me, the sport has become pretty much a joke anyway and at least when it was REALLY important to me we had a multiple decade run
A hit on a defenseless receiver?
Please
Tuck rule?
Wow
The game is a caricature of it's former self, but personally the greatness of the baseball Cardinals has more than made up for footballs shortcomings

I've been on board since SB XI (my first SB). I thought that, after two 8-8 seasons, we might return to relevance, but alas... I like the changes that were made, knew it might be a step back, but I guess the franchise was in worse shape than I imagined. Raiders best bet is to lose out, then trade away their 1st round pick next year to get a few picks lower down. Our first round picks of late have been mediocre to lousy (JaWalrus, McClain, even Run DMC cause he can't stay healthy for more than half a season). We need so much help on D it ain't even funny...

I was referring specifically to bringing in a GM, and a guy from a winning program who happened to be an ex-Raider. I personally believe that Knapp's offense isn't the issue (though the that zone blocking scheme may not entirely suit McFadden's running style). Look at Palmer's numbers (yeah a lot of junk yards in there but still...) and imagine an adequate D that actually forces the opponent to punt more than once a game...

Yves,
I liked the concept as well, but someone has to be accountable
Ya think?
Yes, DMC is always hurt but when healthy he's by far our best weapon - so design an offence that can't take advantage of him?
Love CP3, although I bet he wishes he was back on his couch.
He's got a shit line, gets hit multiple times a game, inexperienced recievers who can't catch consistently, and has no running attack - that he's put up the #'s he has is amazing, yet he's been a scapegoat in Oaktown far as I can tell
And that's the thing - Allen was supposed to be a defensive specialist

Must be tired of all of the attention given to Bud $elig and Gary Bettman.

This idea will never happen but it really isn't so bad. Kickoff coverage is *brutal*.

I'll watch The Knicks game till half time and watch the NFL game afterwards.

I heard a bit about this on a sportstalk show a while ago. Eliminating the kickoff is a bad idea. Too many dumb rules. Yeah the game is faster, more dangerous, blah blah. Dumb idea. It won't happen.
Just jumping in with an advance sympathy card post for Yves.

Broncos looking to sweep the AFC West for the first time since 1998. Four games down, two to go.
(reports have it P. Manning will be playing with one arm tied behind his back to even things up tonight)

Falcons and Texans each have the best records (11-1) and nobody thinks that either team can take it all the way to the Superdome? Really?
No one will ever be able to strip that title from Bettman!
What a stupid idea, though. Replace kickoffs with a fourth-and-15? I didn't think anyone could come up with an idea that's more gimmicky than college football overtime rules or the NHL shootout. Hell, in theory, one team could possess the ball for the entire game under a rule like that.
Since the NFL is so dead-set on neutering kickoffs, they might as well just let the opposing team scrimmage from its own 20 after a score. They could leave in kickoffs to open each half (and move the kickoff back to the 30 so a team actually has a chance to run the ball back), and give the scoring team the option to kickoff in the last 5 minutes of a game -- thus preserving the option for a trailing team to attempt an onside kick.
Speaking of dumb rules: the new overtime rules. Sudden death was fine. You don't want the game to end on a first-drive FG, then the defense needs to do a better job of stopping the team with the ball. It's hilarious that Goodell says he's so worried about player safety, and then he enacts a rule that prolongs overtime.
That would be a good Superbowl matchup. I think the reason why people might not be ready to pencil them in yet is because the playoffs haven't even started yet. Anything could happen in the playoffs. There are still some teams that could do some damage in the playoffs. I'd love to see a Falcons/Texans matchup though.
