New Birds and Buildings album- Multipurpose Trap

A mere three years after I thought it would be released, the second Birds and Buildings album "Multipurpose Trap" is finally finished.

Generally it's got the same mixture of jazz-rock, zeuhl, and symphonic prog as the first album "Bantam to Behemoth," but this time with violin, banjo, and sitars! It might be slightly less intense, especially comparing the opening tracks, and maybe more American-sounding.

Every song has up to six people singing, but only for a minute or less on most songs. This will confuse people who want to label each song "instrumental" or "vocal"! Ha ha!

There's also an elaborate booklet. I encourage people to actually buy the CD to see just how elaborate it is. I think its design might be completely unique.

Here are my favorite two tracks from the album:

Awesome, it's an auto-buy for me, I'm not even going to listen to the samples. Can't wait to hear it!

Yay! I was worried this release might never see the light of day, so it's a relief to hear otherwise. The songs I've heard on the Bandcamp site sound great!

I waited to place a large Wayside order until this came in stock, which it just did. So it's on order. Really excited to hear it.

But I don't like Zuehl...but I like both Birds and Buildings along with Deluge Grander. Anyway, looking forward to the new release.

Loving this album! Possibly the strongest Dan Britton disc yet, imo.

They are not Zeuhl, or Zoole, or Zewl. And I doubt if Dan would disagree.

Just gave this a first spin last night. While it's probably too early to call, I might agree with this. I found the first half of the album pretty compelling. I got a little distracted later on, but my overall impression was extremely positive. Looking forward to digging deeper into this one, it definitely grabbed me right out of the gate!

Been meaning to check these guys out for a little while now. Saw them mentioned here quite a bit in the "Best of 2013" threads. Got about a quarter of the way through their debut album and was instantly sold on them. Both albums ordered and on their way to me! Outstanding stuff! Thanks to all of you who've been pimping these guys here, I LOVE being introduced to such quality stuff.

If you like them, also try the Deluge Grander albums. I guarantee you will like them. August in the Urals sounds the most like Multipurpose Trap but I find The Form of the Good to be slightly better.
