Whereas David Bowie sounds like the SE Londoner he is trying to sound posh.

It's interesting how two guys in the same band sound alike, it does take a while to distinguish between the two. Ocasek/Orr, Steinhardt/Walsh and now Greer. I didn't realize Grocutt sang for ELO until I saw ELO Part 2 live. When The Edge does backing vocals for U2, he sounds similar to Bono.

    Adrian Belew = David Byrne

I've heard that a lot of people think it's Bob Dylan when they her Mark Knopfler sing. I suppose i've been listening to Bob for so long and hardly at all to Mark that I don't hear it. I think Mark's a better singer, but I'd much rather hear dylan.

I remember one time playing some Area for a friend, who insisted Demetrio Stratos sounded like Elvis Presley, I guess because of the way he sort of semi-growled some of the vocals.

Just recently, I realized something. I think our friend Simon Collins has a lot of elements of Blue Rodeo's Greg Keelor in his voice, especially when sings like he does in "Omega Point," "Keep It Dark," "Only Breathing Out," and in the second part of "Mobius Slip":

I don't think it's completely accurate to call Simon's voice a cross between his father's and Peter Gabriel's. I think one can throw Keelor's voice into that mix as well.

In some recordings, the late Ron Tabak sounds a lot like Axl Rose:

Wow, I don't think he sounds anything like Phil Collins. He does sound remarkably like Steve Winwood, though.

Okay, he's not that bad, but close. I once picked up a copy of the Refugee lp and could not get past the vocals.

I haven't read much further than the first post but this interested me. The first Genesis I ever listened to was W&W and I thought Phil Collins sounded exactly like Cat Stevens. Later I heard NC and couldn't tell there was a different singer than on W&W. He sounded just like Phil. Today I still think Phil Collins sounds much more like Cat Stevens than Peter Gabriel does.

    Others:
    Geddy Lee=Robert Plant
Brian Johnson=The singer for Nazareth whatever his name is
    Keith Emerson=Greg Lake
    Benoit David=Trevor Horn
    Justin Hayward=Ray Thomas
    Jim Morrison (late period)=Robert Goulet
Annie Haslam=Agnetha Faltskog (or however you spell it)
    Derek Shulman=Ashley Holt
