You think the're only using that song in the trailer or will Mr Wilson have a more important role in the soundtrack?

Let's just hope he doesn't start making soundtracks for "The Man" and neglect his solo career or PT.

I can't imagine that we'd see that happen.

I suppose the best way to look at this is it's funding the projects we like to hear.

Of course, for any SW-haters, than this just confirms their view that he's sold out or is motivated only be economics.

"The Man"? You mean do major soundtracks and make a lot of money? Why would he want to do that? On a selfish music lover side though, I totally hope he doesn't go that route, he's on such a role these days, so I sort of agree with you.

Good for Steven. About time he got a chance to break into cinema, which has been his dream for years. And if this helps catapult him into the big leagues so much the better. It's all about growing as an artist and film work can only be a positive for him. Anyone who calls themselves a fan should be happy for him.

Not being familiar with his catalogue , is that music from one of his albums or is exclusive to the film soundtrack ?

Yeah, that's what I meant and for the same selfish reasons you stated.

I'm not saying he shouldn't do it, just that I hope he doesn't dive into it so deeply that he ignores his other projects. I'm not a fan of movie scores.

Good on him. Anyone know if this is going to be based on the rather excellent Robert Harris novel?

There are lots of great folks making terrific soundtracks. If Wilson is (a) big enough to have attracted someone to use one of his songs in the soundtrack to what looks like a major motion picture, and (b) that leads to him actually doing some formal soundtrack writing, then as long as he doesn't compromise the music he makes - which is, based on his career to date, highly unlikely - then why not? It might bring more people to his music, and that's never a bad thing.

Plus, frankly, if he can make some extra bucks that will allow him to continue doing what he's doing, that's all the better.

The title track, to be clear, to his most recent solo record, The Raven That Refused to Sing (and Other Stories).

    Congrats, Steven!

"And for Best Original Music Score, the Oscar goes to...Steven Wilson"
I think that would be so effing cool.

February release date usually means the studio doesn't have a lot of confidence in it. Most, but not all, movies released between New Years and April Fools Day are not likely to be critically acclaimed. Director isn't exactly known for Oscar fare. But it will be a nice test to see if Kit Harrington/Jon Snow has a future beyond Game of Thrones.

I hope that song is in the movie but even if it's not, Hollywood has apparently taken notice of Wilson's music.
I don't like country music, but I don't mean to denigrate those who do. And for the people who like country music, denigrate means 'put down.'- Bob Newhart

That would be cool. It's most likely never going to happen on a film directed by the guy that did Alien vs. Predator.

He'll need to work on "critic" favorites to win an Oscar.
