Will be seeing them Aug. 6 in L.A.. I hope they play some tunes they have yet to perform. ie...I Talk To The Wind, In The Wake of Poseidon, Devil's Triangle (Mars), Groon, Get Thy Bearings, Drop In, Cadence and Cascade, Lady of the Dancing Water, Formentera Lady, Ladies of the Road, Exiles (played at least once, but I'd like to hear it live), The Great Deceiver, Lament and The Night Watch. Of course there are more, but I love these tunes and maybe some of my pipe dreams will come true. Who knows?
Day dawns dark...it now numbers infinity.

What if they only play the tunes that Fripp and Toyah have been covering on Sundays?

  6. #1356
Per Tony’s blog he put in a bunch of time to work on elektrik so we know that song, which they brought back in 2019 is in play

There was a commercial for the upcoming KC concert during the local news on our NBC affiliate yesterday at 5 pm; I'm guessing that 99.9% of the viewers thought "King Who?", although Austin residents are more likely to recognize them than most folks.

I never imagined in my wildest nightmare that I'd ever see Fripp covering the Sex Pistols

Why is it whenever someone mentions an artist that was clearly progressive (yet not the Symph weenie definition of Prog) do certain people feel compelled to snort "thats not Prog" like a whiny 5th grader?

I jut got back from the King Crimson Family & Friends concert, which I was lucky enough to get an invitation to. It took place at the Ruth Eckerd Hall (capacity 2200) which is where the tour kicks off in two night's time. There were probably around 150 people in the audience, so the acoustics were probably a little different than it'll be with a capacity crowd. We picked a spot around four rows back, dead center. That put me in a perfect equilateral triangle with Pat & Gavin's drums with Jeremy between them. Quite a treat for the ears.

The show opened with California Guitar Trio who were in great form. A fairly compact set as you'd expect for an opener, though they managed to fit in a condensed cover of Pink Floyd's Echoes to close out their set. Very fun.

The Crimson Beast is in magnificent form. They were clearly having fun, and while the set list was mostly songs performed by the current incarnation of the band recently, they may have chosen to hide any 'surprises' from their friends and family pre-tour workout. Tony had a technical hitch with his bass cable, but it didn't derail him and it was sorted pretty quickly. This is the first time I've seen this variant of the band, and it was superb. A very unique concert and I'm looking forward to seeing them again on Thursday as part of a much larger audience.

I forget which tour it was, but I once saw Tony have a problem with his yellow "Three of a Perfect Pair" bass, and instead of waiting for it to be fixed, he switched to his upright and used that on a song where he had expected to play bass guitar.

In this instance, he switched to keyboard and played a bass part on it while his tech fiddled with the cabling.

Did they really do coda: I have a dream as a coda to court? Or was it just the normal coda to court? Because that would be an interesting combo!

Tony mentioned on his website that his Bass Tech Michele hadn't arrived yet due to Visa issues. This guy has been his tech for years. Mentions before every tour he goes through Everything in his signal chain and restores all items. Did a complete restoration of the Yellow Bass back in 2014 when this version of KC started touring. King Crimson recently asked on Facebook for people to work on the merch table during the tour: https://www.facebook.com/kingcrimson...87819016033219 You need to already have a ticket, you don't get paid, you get an item of merchandise. The comments are (rightly!) excoriating them for being so cheap.

Scene: Dorothy is stuck in line between two bearded fat guys comparing their past concert experiences:

I was there at the Rainbow
    Way back when
    Crimson played at the Rainbow
    Tickets were one pound then.

With Bruford and with David Cross
And Robert Fripp, cause he's the boss,
    And Wetton!
They played "Larks' Tongues" when they began
And finished off with "Schizoid Man"
    I ain't for...get...tin'!

I was there at the Rainbow
    Way back when
    My t-shirt from the Rainbow
    Hasn't been washed since then.

    And the response

Thank you to all those who responded online to the question of volunteers helping to sell programmes - both positively and negatively.
A number of people wrote to us as soon as they had bought tickets, asking if they could volunteer to help in some way before the show. We saw no reason not to accept, and wondered if there were others who would like to do the same - offering a free choice from merchandise as a "thank you".
Having done this, we now find ourselves accused of using "slave labour". The band and the venues already employ a full roster of merchandise staff. This was an additional role invented purely for those who wished to volunteer.
The willing and happy spirit in which it was offered and accepted has sadly been tarnished. It does not therefore feel appropriate to continue. We are very sorry for all those who were keen to do this. Perhaps another time in a different way. Meanwhile, we look forward to seeing you at the show.

I blame Wynton, what was the question?

Thanks for posting that. I suggest that pissy and passive aggressive is not a good look for the band. Even if they had the best intentions in the world, they needed to apologise for poorly explaining themselves.

I agree, the initial posting was not very clear & now they get pissy about it. Not a particularly good look.

I for one can understand why they might get a bit "pissy", seeing how some folks called what they were doing "slave labor".

Best of intentions and all that... They probably never thought it would get misinterpreted that way, and it's sad that we have to be so super cautious all the time nowadays because of social media dogpiling.
