    Hidria Spacefolk - A Bluffer's Guide

For those of you into the likes of Ozric Tentacles, but with an added flavours from Hawkwind, Jethro Tull and dub reggae, then Hidria Spacefolk might be to your taste.

They were an underground-type band from Finland who released several space-rock albums in the early 2000s and then seemed to disappear into the great galactic beyond. But now it looks like they've awoken from their cry-tubes with some new music.

Here's a guide to their albums and a link to their bandcamp site:

They played NEARfest 2004 and released a live album from that performance called "Live 11 am", which is missing from your guide.

Would that we lived in a world where, when I start expounding about Hidria Spacefolk, anyone would know if I was bluffing. As opposed to looking at me as if I was a potentially dangerous lunatic, and edging towards the door.

One of the best Sunday wake-up performances and a live album that still gets regular spins.

Indeed. It would be interesting to rank those Sunday wake-up call performances. I went to NEARfest from 2003 onwards, and I'd say the top three that come to mind are Sleepytime Gorilla Museum (2003), Hidria Spacefolk (2004) and Guapo (2006, I believe).

Those were all good - my top three would probably be Hidria, Indukti and Morglbl.

I feel like I should dig Symbiosis out again. It's been a very long time.
