As I Listen To The Album Tu-Ner For Lovers (Live)...

There is just something about this King Crimson inspired sub-genre that makes me feel like I'm simply listening to one long improv randomly cut into separate tracks.

Is that a good thing or bad thing?

I haven’t had a chance to dive in yet, but a cursory listen was good.

I speak for myself but it's difficult to not be able to separate one song from another when I hear them. In all honesty, you could take years worth of this stuff and hit shuffle and I wouldn't be able to tell it apart.

^ They do use a lot of the same textures and sonic pallette.

I think POLE was their best but I have not listened to the latest.

I haven't really given Pole and Totem too much of a chance yet, but I really like MÜÜT, ZWAR, T1-Contact Information and T2-Tu-Ner for Lovers. The more improve, the better, for me.

Did they change from Tuner to Tu-Ner because of the lineup change, or did the AI-generated album cover make TUNER come up with TU-NER and they went with that?

I was wondering why its Tu-Ner also. To be honest the whole latter day Crimson inspired and connected crowd is not something I usually go to.. I need to have a listen to Tuners new album. I know Markus Reuter and Pat are both "bona- fied"

Aaaaahhh! That makes sense... I saw Trey play during the TCoL tour He was amazing. So Markus is not in Tu-Ner then.

I love POLE! But that one does not have much improvisation.

(And yes it is Tuner not Tu-Ner album.)

And album FACE (2017) was released under the name "Pat Mastelotto & Markus Reuter". That was pretty odd.

Maybe that’s why I like it, I’m ok with improv but I prefer a structured and purposeful song these days. No doubt about the talent. Top notch. Substance is another thing.

Although the line-up is closest to ProjeKct Three, I was hearing something closer to ProjeKct One delivery.

You're not allowed to use that word unless you follow it with "fartsy."

Is "these days" because we're getting old? I feel the same way about Henry Cow, and I attribute that (at least partly) to a similar process.
What we feel we have to solve is why the dregs have not dissolved.

I have to admit yes, because I’m getting older. I’m listening to 21 Pilots “Trench” right now. Brilliantly crafted songs. And I feel a progressive vein running through them. This is an “album”! Fantastic. Young men, great music. New and unusual melodies and sounds….Surprising the heck out of me.
