I need to get this. Was a big Bowie fan back then. Saw him at the Tower in Philly early '73.

Looking forward to my day in court.

This sounds very interesting. $88.13 at importcds.com.

Amazon U.K. has this at £144 for a 5 CD & 1 BluRay set, which seems astronomic. I would be very interested at a sensible price.

Edit - £125 on Burning Shed … still pricey but better.

I don't have a blu-ray player - so not an attractive deal for me - another over-priced cash in.

Funny...it doesn't seem to actually contain a CD version of the actual ZS&tR&FotSfM* album.

This on the BD sounds interesting:

WAITING IN THE SKY (BEFORE THE STARMAN CAME TO EARTH)

Early Ziggy Stardust album tracklisting – December 1971 (96khz/24bit PCM stereo)

But maybe what it means is that they've just taken the 1971 demos from the CDs and duplicated them here to simulate an early version of the album. Or maybe Bowie had put them all together as an album demo.

Anyway, this whole set seems to have interesting stuff, but I'd probably only listen to it a couple of times in my life - it's too many versions of the same songs to listen to more than that. I'd fondle it for sure, but it could probably never be anything more than a one-night stand.

They're not doing that with these sets. Divine Symmetry didn't have Hunky Dory on CD, only on the blu-ray.

This isn't demos, it's an early tracklisting with four different songs. Before "Starman," "Suffragette City" and "Rock 'n' Roll Suicide" were recorded and "It Ain't Easy" was added from the Hunky Dory sessions.

So they released a similar edition of Hunky Dory? If you have it, how is it?

I don't have it but I've heard it. I was surprised at how much I liked the demo disc. If you're a Scary Monsters fan go to youtube and have a listen to "Tired of My Life." I had already heard a lot of the BBC material. There's a full concert (or nearly full) but you can't hear Ronson's guitar. One disc has tracks from a rare promo only album issued before the album was released with different mixes of six songs, but it's not like you're getting an early mix of the entire album. There are more recent Ken Scott remixes of seven songs. I don't know why he didn't do the whole thing.
