I'd be really surprised not to hear Thela Hun Ginjeet, as Ade seems to really enjoy playing that one.

The combined total of all three albums is about 2 hours. I'm assuming some stuff from the albums they won't play, maybe to be replaced by improvs or earlier Crim stuff. But yeah I'd bet my life savings on Thela being played at every single show

All very exciting, just saw both Tony Levin and Adrian Belew on the CTTE and wish this news had officially broken then but there were rumors swirling.
I hope they play Radio City in NY but it will probably be the Beacon (which can be pricey).

When I heard the announcement in Milwaukee last fall, I intended to pester one of those two about it, but that's a long time for me to remember anything and I completely forgot.

Fripp is too busy to take part on this tour, he's a full time buffoon on the Fripp & Toyah Willcox videos.

I think he's having fun with Toyah, not taking things too seriously. He's also just wrapped up another round of the talking tours with Singleton. So he's keeping somewhat busy, but with lower stress work.

He's probably still mentally done with big touring, given he did 7 straight years of it with the final edition of King Crimson.

He was doing those while Crim was still active.

How dare a man in his 70s enjoy life with his wife instead of continuing to grind away in his profession. Weird.

He doesn't owe anybody ANYTHING at this point. He's not a pet to boss around.

Will be interesting to see what they choose for the set. They could easily do the entire 80s discography but I doubt stuff like requiem and some of the more esoteric stuff on TOAPP would be pulled out. While I don’t particularly want them to dip into pre 80s stuff given Fripp handled that nicely one slightly tempting idea to me would be to do larks 1-4(and level 5?) all in a row.

"five evenings of classic rock with their full band"

I'm not sure what they mean by "classic rock," but it would be cool if they did some stuff from Exposure. Really what would have been cool is if Fripp and Eno, and maybe David Byrne would have toured and done stuff from Before and After Science, Remain in Light, Exposure, My Life in the Bush of Ghosts, etc. It's great that Fripp did all these last years of touring with KC, but there was so much other great music these guys (and their other colleagues) did, I'm surprised there wasn't some more imaginative and creative touring done over these last couple of decades. With Phil Manzanera too - so many possibilities.

I've the same mindset, stick to the 3 Disciplines

and I have always loved neglected songs like Man With an Open Heart, Model Man, Two Hearts etc, would love to hear those

    and a full blown :20 minute vamp/skronk/blowout a'la Industry is mandatory !

would love to see a construcKtion era tour at some point with PatM and maybe Reuter in the Trey spot. Stickmen w/Belew etc etc. I wonder if Trey has shut the door on any alumni stuff ???

Trey is currently in tu-ner with mastelotto and Reuter so maybe they can work on him some as I think they are doing some KC when live which may get him in the mood.

The Crimso Beat tour was my favorite of that era. A lot of energy and they all seemed to be enjoying themselves. The Three of a Perfect Pair tour was less-so and you already saw Fripp being tired of it. I think this was also the time he was having his legal issues with EG Records (or the beginning of it).

Didn't see Beat tour - but the KCCC releases from that tour (and the box set) are my faves

why not be a band in their own right instead of a cover band for 3 Crimson albums? how long can that last?

Why should it last long? I hope that they do one good tour and get back to their other projects and bands

Yeah why not. Name "Beat" does not exactly prevent that. They can tour Crimson material now and if there is real creative chemistry take it further after that.

Oh I so hope there is a big tour, 81-84 is my favourite version of KC and they've brought in a couple of heavyweight subs there!

When they're sick of the KC stuff, they can call themselves "Meat" and do Mothers of Invention covers, or 70's porn soundtracks I guess? Ask Rick L - he's an expert on this subject.

Probably as long as they want it to. It doesn't seem designed to be a really long project, though I'd certainly love it if it continued beyond this. It seems like the point is Tony and Ade want to go out and play this stuff that they enjoy which hasn't had a lot of exposure over the last decade. Tony and Ade are no spring chickens so I suspect they are looking to go have some fun together playing music they like.

I noticed recently that Tony was born just three weeks after Fripp. (Adrian is three years younger than them.)
