I blame Wynton, what was the question?

New video for a new song:

Very metal, both in music and imagery.

Carla and Matthias's scenes were shot near their home on Cape Cod, while Nils, Michael, and Dan's were shot in LA. I wonder, how did they manage to get the appearance of the forest - with very different kinds of trees - to match up? Did the film-makers know of some place near LA that could be used to fake an East Coast deciduous forest? Or maybe they didn't fake it at all, and I just didn't notice.

So just downloaded the album and giving it a first listen. Looks like 3 none Sleepytime tracks on there, SPQR is This Heat, and Hush Hush is from Carla & Matthias' first Rabbit Rabbit album. Anyone know where the track Silverfish is from?

Carla says it started as a Rabbit Rabbit Radio song. The lyrics to the first verse are from Robert Louis Stevenson.

Jesus Christ. Some lineup. I think my head would explode if I went to this. Incredibly reasonable pass prices too.

I 'went' to the bandcamp listening party today. First listen was killer and this album appears to have all of their hallmark elements and a few different types of vibes, as well. The enthusiasm they have at recording together again is palpable. I can't wait to hear to it again. Great to have them back.

Not sure why I received mine so early (Feb. 5th) but I can attest that it's completely killer! All of the tracks are great but I think I like El Evil the most.

Was surprised to see Moe! in the gatefold pic but he only appears on one track which is a This Heat cover no less!

Moe’s current band Surplus 1980 will be opening for SGM at some shows.

Agreed.....a very worthy SGM release and one that breaks new ground for them.

They played that at Nearfest 03, over twenty years ago. It notably includes Dan on the Pedal-Action Wiggler, stamping ferociously on the pedal to create a deep, gravelly, "BWAAH, BWAAH, BWAAH, BWAAH, BWAAH.........." sound, which seriously flummoxed that portion of the NF crowd who were waiting for Glass Hammer.

I remember getting shot a look by the person sitting next to me because I couldn't keep from laughing during their performance - especially when Nils was talking what sounded to me like someone with a speech impediment. I mean, it's not nice to laugh at speech impediments, but I think it's OK if they don't see you laughing.

I think it's his attempt at a Deep South accent, with the addition of a too-large mouthful of too-hot, too-sticky grits and a copious swig from the hip flask. It's a character he frequently does; I call him the "Drunken Southern Preacher". All of Sleepytime - but most particularly Nils - have a considerable anthropological interest in Redneck Americana. Of Natural History included field recordings of various people they'd met on tour, and most of them were Southerners. Also, the band were surprisingly popular in Florida, a state notable both for a suffocating mainstream culture and a counterculture defined almost entirely as the mainstream's polar opposite - and thus nearly as suffocating in its own way. Perhaps SGM represented a freer, more artistic alternative to the alternative.
