    Renaissance - Grandine il Vento

I'm liking this one so far. I may be biased as I was a Kickstart donater, but oh well. It's nice to hear from Renaissance, especially knowing that this was Michael Dunford's last album before he passed away. It sounds great to me. For the folks who donated and are downloading the album today, what are your thoughts as you listen?

They're playing tracls from this and talking with Annie daily on Sirius XM Deep Tracks all this week.

They're doing something similar with Geddy Lee next week, but talking about baseball.

I, too, helped with the Kickstarter process. Their emailing mentioned that the CD will be shipped out in early April.

I think this is the 3rd CD wherein my name will appear in the credits. WooHoo!

I can't wait to buy it. Thanks for the info.

I know that Annie responded back to me on Facebook that the album will be available for purchase at the upcoming April shows. Good, I rather the money for it go straight into her hands and not thru a middle man, no disrespect intended to the many worthy and honest sellers of prog music that hang out here.

Really looking forward to this. I think the three cuts that make up The Mystic and the Muse are very good songs.

I would happily buy it directly from the band at a show if they would come out west, which won't happen, unfortunately.

Now available on Amazon.com (USA only). Sold by the band (Renaissance Touring LLC), fulfilled by Amazon.

I hope to be receiving it directly from the band any day now. Look for my name in the credits!

A short while ago Annie sent a message stating that the accompanying DVD will be delayed due to emotional difficulties regarding Michael's death.

Cool, I'll look for your name.

Very understandable on the DVD. Such a horrible loss. Michael was one of the nicest gentlemen in the biz.

Sample here of "Blood Silver Like Moonlight"; duet between Annie & John Wetton. I did not know, or remember that JW actually toured with Renaissance way back in '71.

I must check this out. I don't have a date , but this week or next they will be playing a small theatre in Millville N.J. Millville is divided in 2 sections. In town it's all about the arts. Musicians performing in small venues, displayed art work on the sidewalks, where the other section has an overflow of gangs, shootings etc. It's surrounded by vast wooded areas where the Devil worshippers meet. I can't believe my f-in ears? Renaissance belong in Carnegie Hall and not a place like Smitty's Sweat Palace. I feel very disgusted over this. I'm sure everyone in my age bracket will crawl out of the woodwork to see them. Renaissance are in too much of an isolated situation if they have to do gigs like this. We have networking, Y.T., but what does that do for Renaissance? They should be promoted more and not disregarded by the industry. I'm sure they have some fine halls and theatres to play, but I've played that strip many times and it's a rat hole. They deserve better.

They're playing at the Levoy Theatre which, from the photos, looks like a very nice place.

Mine arrived on schedule Friday afternoon(from Amazon). It is sitting right next to me. It's a digi-pak with a gorgeous painting by Annie in 3 places and there is a touching dedication to Michael Dunford on the inside of the album: "Grandine il Vento is dedicated to MICHAEL DUNFORD our friend, consummate musician, songwriter and guiding light, who will live in our hearts forever."

So, can anyone shed light on what the title of this means in English?

    Annie says "Hail the Wind".

However, translate pages say that grandine means hailstorm, hail, and sometimes precipitation. So, maybe the title is a bad translation or, possibly, they are trying to make a joke on the two different meanings of hail.

The other problem with that title is that it looks like a coffee order. "One grandine il vento mocha latte with extra foam, please."

You must mean the design of the building. Question is what are Renaissance doing in hickville? A low life dirt bag place like Millville does not deserve a band like Renaissance.

The one thing I'd like to know is did they use real orchestration on this album or just keyboards?
