    Camel 50th UK tour

Just noticed on my Ticketmaster newsletter that Camel are doing a 50th anniversary tour in the UK June 2023. All we need now is a new album!

(edited as I misread the date)

I wouldn't hold my breath on a new album, but it would be awesome if Andy did.
Especially since he has a terrific songwriter in Peter Jones, and I think it would add a great new dynamic to a new album.

All we need now is that they extend the tour to include the US!

That sure is; it is quite difficult to predict what will happen for the next 18 months specially with COVID and those darn variants!

Besides Andy Latimer who is a cancer survivor is not a youngster anymore neither is Colin Bass, maybe Pete Jones and Denis Clement are ok but nothing is guaranteed.

Why be so mathematical and wait until the right year arrives? Many bands celebrate those anniversaries a year or even two before the time comes up.

Since Camel was formed in late 1971 (1st album recorded Summer 1972), the 50th birthday is actually RIGHT NOW.

Peter Jones songs don't fit well with Camel for me. They played a couple early on in last tour, but got dropped from setlist.

As calyx said, that's not the reason. Could be Covid related. Waiting for things to improve, or gig availability due to artists re-booking cancelled shows. A lot are going for 2022.

Camel have always been a little hazy with dates anyway - remember that "On The Road 1972" release that was actually from 1974 ?

That's fair and I can understand your feelings.
But in fairness, those were Peter Jones songs, not Camel collaborated songs written together.
I think if Andy, Colin and Peter wrote several Camel songs together, it might be a fresh new dynamic that would be fun to hear.

Why not Denis? Usually it's only Andy, but some years back Andy & Denis wrote some songs.

Amazing news! I'm not going to miss this, that's for sure. Boy, if only a new album was in the pipeline too..

    You're both incorrect.
Yes, Peter had input with the new songs, but they were a collaborated effort.

I should have realised, one does have music from 'Mystic Queen' in it. The other one I didn't know about, but not keen anyway.
