Music isn't about chops, or even about talent - it's about sound and the way that sound communicates to people. Mike Keneally
R.I.P. Charlie... first Stone we've lost since 1969 I think?
Keith Richards outlasts another one...

Just got a notification on my phone. Sad news. He was a real drummer, I liked his jazz side-projects. I believe he had prostate cancer which was what got my father.
Just saw this fantastic nugget on the BBC obit:
….. in the mid-1980s, during what he put down to a mid-life crisis, Watts went off the rails with drink and drugs, leading to heroin addiction.
"It got so bad," he later quipped, " that even Keith Richards, bless him, told me to get it together."
RIP to such a sweet, supple groove. I'll be playing Stones for the rest of the week now.
I don't like country music, but I don't mean to denigrate those who do. And for the people who like country music, denigrate means 'put down.'- Bob Newhart
Holy crap! That sucks. Very underrated drummer imo. Also, I personally can't imagine the Stones continuing without him. RIP Charlie.
Do not suffer through the game of chance that plays....always doors to lock away your dreams (To Be Over)
R.I.P Charlie, I always thought you were the best musician in the band.

I prefer Nature to Human Nature
This should be on the Main Page. Kept his personal life personal till the end. A class act. A giant of rock. RIP
Omg, I was thinking of him yesterday. RIP.
Damn, that sucks. RIP.
I don't see how the Stones can continue without Charlie Watts. His style is essential to their sound. Kind of like Keith Moon or Bonham were to the Who and Zep. RIP.
RIP Charlie Watts! A big part of our collective musical education.

He already wasn't going on their next tour with them. I suppose they only call it a day when either Mick Jagger or Keith Richards stops.
Not really a Stones fan. Not hating their music, but I don't own any Stones album. But still very sad news. Charlie Watts always looked like a real gentleman.
He wasn't going to tour with them in North America
RIP
R.I.P. I'm not much of a Stones fan, but he was a giant.
"The White Zone is for loading and unloading only. If you got to load or unload go to the White Zone!"
My fave moment in his career is when he hammered Jagger for referring about Charlie as "my drummer"
RIP, Charlie.
my music collection increased tenfolds when I switched from drug-addicts to complete nutcases.
I'm not lazy. I just work so fast I'm always done.
Deeply saddened. A true icon and a cornerstone of rock & roll. (And he shared my birthday.)

Well that's a BIG one, RIP Charlie.
We've got 3 forums covered now. Someone needs to start a RIP thread in the What's On, What's New Forum and the Artists' Forum.
Yeah this one really cuts deep. As a Stones fan I obviously knew he was ill and was not part of their upcoming tour, but I wasn't expecting this.
