Djam Karet - A Sky Full of Stars for a Roof (Wow! This is one of their best albums - I somehow missed this one when it came out, which is strange for me, then I'd only listened to the album once on Bandcamp. Got the CD and it's great!)

Love their first two ground-breaking albums, and Dare is just an iconic 80s recording.

Nearly Human is probably the album I listened to the most in the '90s (and very late '80s) that wasn't Marillion or Fish. Pretty much every song is great, and it sounds perfect to me (my least favorite song is the Elvis Costello cover of "Two Little Hitlers," so I have to admit I sometimes skip it. I think the next album, "Second Wind," is ALMOST as good. Maybe a little too much Gilbert & Sullivan-type stuff, even though I like G&S and those songs. Just not so much in the context of the album.
Jin Hi Kim: Sargeng
Steve Roach/Vir Unis: Blood Machine
Steve Roach/Robert Logan: Second Nature
Steve Roach: The Weaving Way
Also listened to the 20th and last CD of the Grateful Dead Listen To THe River boxset. Took me forever to get around to that one.
Man, I totally agree about Nearly Human -- even down to the Elvis Costello cover, which I usually skip myself as it's also my least favorite. But every other song on there is top-notch, and the band he had with him was stellar. I didn't "discover" Todd until I was about 20, and it wasn't until a few years later when I really came to appreciate him. Nearly Human was one of the first albums of his I bought and quickly became a favorite. I must have played "The Waiting Game" a hundred times while I was at work. That album is loaded with great tunes, and some incredible performances.
Second Wind is really good too, even if it's not quite as consistent. The strong material there is really strong though, and songs like "If I Have to be Alone", "Who's Sorry Now?", "Gaia's Eyes", and the title track are among the best that Rundgren has ever written IMO.
Over the last couple days I've been listening to his Live in Chicago '91 album, which was from the tour supporting Second Wind (I think). It also features some songs from Nearly Human, and it has killer renditions of "Real Man" and "Something to Fall Back On". The version of "Unloved Children" on there is a showstopper. Have you heard it? If not, I highly recommend it.
As a bonus, Larry Tagg (of Bourgeois Tagg) was in the band for that tour. The album Yoyo by Bourgeois Tagg is also a must IMO.
