    The worst 'jazz' solo ever

This is a very fun and educational video (as are all of Adam Neely's vids), that uses a horrible 1 note sax solo as a jumping off point for a more interesting discussion.

Sure the solo is horrible, but the video is entertaining.

Adam is a top NY jazz and fusion bass player, and YT music educator.

I don't have a Youtube link, but the Sonny Fortune solo here starting about 1:45 isn't the most inspired solo, I'd have to say.

Otherwise it's a good Miles tribute CD.

I guess Graham Bond (for it is apparently he) thought he was channelling some avant-garde jazz vibe on this solo. But it is truly appalling, even Decca noticed as it was shelved for years! It goes off the rails around 2:23, classic one-note parping.

    That was certainly entertaining

My dad had a Illinois Jacquet album and a few Lionel Hampton ones.

Miles: why played all those notes?? Just play the good ones.... From the man whose silences meant more than his intyerventions.

Amusing illustration or demonstration on his bass too.

A bit surprised he didn't lead into a minimalism foray.

If I remember well, there is a very moving piano one-note solo on Savoy Brown's Getting To The Point album, courtesy of Bob Hall (can't remember which track, though)
my music collection increased tenfolds when I switched from drug-addicts to complete nutcases.
