Brainstorm is still one of my hands-down faves from them.
Yeah, it's killer. Cool that you've seen them together and apart. I've not been able to see Zombi live at all. They passed through a couple hours away in support of Spirit Animal, but I found out too late.

    New album. Old thread.

    https://zombi.bandcamp.com/album/direct-inject

Info from the ZOMBI BC (though I guess you could totally click that link too; heck, you probably already have because you're going to pre-order this album just like I did, right???):

ZOMBI make their long awaited return with their new album, Direct Inject! Capturing the spirit of previous albums like Escape Velocity and Surface To Air, while expanding the band's sonic palette into territory, ranging from 80's synth rock ("Direct Inject") to saxophone-heavy slow jams ("Sessuale II"). Direct Inject is essential ZOMBI, and quite possibly their most diverse and engaging record yet. You can't help but get carried up in the slipstream of tracks like "Bodies in the Flotsam", the hard rock/synth strut of "Kamichi & Sandy", the guttural dirge of “The Post-Atomic Horror”, or the heady sonic touches of "Insurmountable Odds".

The spirit of improvisation permeates ZOMBI’s newest opus, opening a door into the compositional world Steve Moore and A.E. Paterra exist within and have existed in since the beginning. Direct Inject is ZOMBI in their finest form; taking improvisations and mining them for gold.

The energy behind Direct Inject is palpable; as Steve Moore sums up the band's ethos perfectly: “I love what can happen when you roll tape and just go for it.”

On Direct Inject, ZOMBI indeed go for it.
I want to dynamite your mind with love tonight.

I blame Wynton, what was the question?

Digging the preview track. I've been noticing some tour dates on the horizon too.

New album arrived yesterday. I haven't had a chance to properly listen to it, but it does seem like the band's experiments with covering pop music have spilled over into this one. Is that yacht rock I hear creeping through on "Sessuale II"? (Is this what yacht rock is? I think I don't know what it is.)

I had just put on Light Echoes by Steve Moore before seeing this thread! Weird, because I haven't played this album before, or anything by Zombi in a LONG time. I'll check this one out.

Light Echoes is fabulous, still probably my favorite of Moore's solo releases (with Pangaea Ultima a close second).

I have the new Zombi on BC preorder, looking forward to hearing the full album soon. Not expecting it to dethrone Escape Velocity or Surface to Air as my hands-down faves but I'm never sad to hear something new from the gents.

I got my copy of DI, too. I'll give it a proper listen, later.

I'm not sure which of Steve's solo albums I like best. Well, that's what listening to all of them again is for, eh?

    That sounds like work, man....

Not a bad idea, actually...I own damned near everything from SM that I can find but it's been a while since I gave many of them a proper listen. No time like the present!

It's outstanding, better than I anticipated (and I always I like what they do, no matter what). I've been playing it a lot. It's easily better than 2020 and, for me, their best since Escape Velocity. They knocked it out of the park. "Sessuale II" blew me away. That could be a lost Goblin track.

Yeah, it's a definite winner and I also thought Sessuale II was the bomb

I'm slightly bummed, they'll be in the area on tour in another week or so but I already have tickets to see Swans crush my eardrums that evening.

Man, is that shiz lit or what? "So Mote It Be" also kicks me in the nads.

Yep, great fun at parties, plus I save a TON on earplugs 'cause I can just tie 'em in knots and stuff 'em back in. Also helps drown out all the screaming from people nearby

^^Cool. Thanks for posting. I'm really bummed that I couldn't go to this show, in my own backyard, but this takes the sting off a bit.
