I would, er, listen to it before being excited about it. I found some clips on Youtube a while ago, when I first heard about this. I guess you might say they're "interesting"?
Up on Spotify now.

Woah... yeah, I think I'll pass on this one. The vocals are terrible. The song selection is pretty cool but there's just no way I'm going to be able to get past the vocals. Sorry.
The vocalist/band leader John Vehadija should not be allowed near a recording studio. I recommend people go listen just so they can hear how terrible his stuff is.

Wow, I listened to the samples and it's truly awful! He might as well of had Steve Howe do all the vocals. Does this guy have a big trust fund? It must be very expensive to release a 4 CD box set.
Vehadija doesn't take kindly to criticism, but he explains on his website:
"Jon Anderson introduced me to the work of Carlos Castaneda and I was well-aware of forces in the shadows who can block the manifestation and psychically attack the success of every project, but I’m happy to say I defeated the resistance. This project opens a Negative Universe Trap by activating a DNA Soul-Gate to a new Timeline of the Greater Free Universe of Light which has laws based on a different system of being and soul respect."

Oh my God, there's more:
"One day, if the stars align, I’d like to meet Jon and record a song with him, as many people have done in a professional manner. However, a secret idea formed in my mind as I was working on Musicsoul Continuum. I realized that if Olias of Sunhillow is Jon’s soul story, then musically, I might be part of Zamran, the music child consciousness projected back in time to stop the tragedy of the planet exploding, coming from a rebirthed New Universe."

Oh, man I clicked on "Children of Light," and now I can't unhear it! It's how someone would sing if they were trying to disparage a song they hated by using the whiniest voice possible.
April Fool's?
WANTED: Sig-worthy quote.
I shared the song that he did with Wakeman, Howe and Sherwood here last year. The reaction was similar to this current thread:

Oh that's right - I had forgotten about that one from last year. Really strange stuff. There is so much material in this 4 CD set - clearly this fellow spent a great deal of time on this. Clearly he is very passionate. Has anyone ever seen that Johnny Depp movie "Ed Wood"? About the fimlaker of the same name. Based on the life of a man they called the worst film maker ever. A passionate fan who just wanted to make movies. Somehow Ed Wood came to mind when I heard these recordings.

His voice sounds like the descriptions of his books. I would rather listen to Lyrian again before I have
to hear this guy again.
Reading his bio, it doesn't seem like he has the financial resources necessary to pull a project like this off. I wonder how he did it. I'd send him an email to ask, but he seems like the kind of guy whose radar it is best to stay off.
I cannot wait to sample this! The album titles are horrendous! What a space cadet!
Update... now that I've wiped the tears from my eyes.
"Children of Light" was amazingly bad. Wow. You also need to check out "Rhythm of Love," "Lightning Strikes," and "I Would Have Waited Forever". On IWHWF, there aren't a lot of vocals on the sample, but the guitar "work" is worth a listen. I think he missed a few notes.
Where does he get the bankroll for all this music, books, video etc.?

His website images don't quite align with his actual appearance.
You know what though? More power to the dude. Can't say I'm a fan of his skill or his vision, but really...he's making it happen. I wish I had half as much nerve and PR drive as he has.
It's his dream and it's pretty awesome that he was able to realize it, however it might have come about.

Okay, I'll confess that I had this same thought... for a (very) fleeting moment. What I really wonder is does he have a substantial fanbase? And if so, are they there for the actual "goodness" they sense in his music, or is it more of a wink-wink, "I-love-him-because-he's-so-godawful" thing? In the end, though, if people are buying it, then he's definitely making it happen. And I do envy the PR and verve. But I sense that this may be some huge in-joke that includes the said artist.
