I think it's quite good. Better than many of these Cleopatra/Sherwood projects. But it doesn't compare to 1999's Encores, Legends and Paradox, A Tribute to the Music of ELP, which has several of the same people involved (Downes, Rudess, Sherinian) and I think is great.

I love Todd Rundgren but that 21CSM lacks punch...and the vital middle section is replaced by "bits of Emerson". Perhaps that's the way ELP did it live; I've never heard them perform it. But it lacks punch.

Thanks for the pointer to the Bandcamp site. I listened to bits of this new album and nothing really resonated with me. Thanks, also, for the reference to the earlier 1999 tribute album. I forgot that I owned it! I'm listening to it now, probably for the second time since purchase. It's terrific!

It would have been nice if the Eddie Jobson/Marc Bonilla Wetton/Emerson tribute tour had led to a live album rather than us having to settle for whatever's floating around on the web.

It's not, as far as I recall, how ELP did it. But I like it: it's a different approach.

I sampled a few of the songs and it's nice they interpret these a bit differently.
I really enjoyed hearing Jon Davison singing without doing the Jon A thing. He has a great voice and even in a lower ranger it's quite enjoyable.
I think everyone will be quite surprised when someday he does a solo album of his own thing, and find he's much more than someone singing songs in the key of Jon A.
I'll pass on this one, but glad they did this.

I think the best thing on there is the rendition of "Still ... You Turn Me On." The "Hoedown" is pretty good too.

Agreed. One of the few tribute albums i ever bought, Encores, Legends.... I think was produced by Robert Berry, who was one of Keith's closest friends, and whose "3.2" album has been on constant replay on my iPod for about the last month. I unfortunately just lost a rare opportunity to see Berry live, because of his guest spot with Big Big Train being cancelled in IN, I had great tickets but BBT's whole US tour is now cancelled.

That was the first one I went to on the Bandcamp site also. It is a pretty straightforward rendition that you couldn't tell was actually Moraz until around the 2:40 mark where he throws in a very Morazian solo - only 40 seconds or so, but pretty cool.

Another audio engineering and production atrocity from Billy. Drums sounds like cellophane papers and shoes boxes in the bathroom. Thiny and with horrible reverb. Sterile sound. A shame, because Schellen is a hell of drummer.

Too bad you missed him; I was lucky to see Robert Berry 3.2 band last year at Progfest in Rahway, NJ and he put on an amazing performance! Robert played lots of his "3" material like he also played his version of Karn Evil 9 on the ELP Magna Carta CD but without Jordan Rudess in his band. He told lots of his Emerson (Emo) memories, what a great show!
