Hey, thanks. We are feeling better today. Not quite 100% yet, but much better. I'll take this minor discomfort over the potential alternative, any day.

Saw a news report this morning that many of the southern U.S. states who removed mask mandates, etc. and also are showing drops in cases coincidentally also have the lowest test rates in the country. Haven't had a chance to run the numbers, but that would explain the anomaly.

The hospitalization rate is dropping dramatically so even if testing has reduced that’s still good news.

I know my daughter and her boyfriend had COVID in Austin last year, but they never got tested or received any medical assistance. That is two cases right there

Yeah, it sucks here for sure. Even live-streamed online concerts are banned under the latest lockdown orders.

Had a dream last night that a building had burned down and several students had died, and I had to break the news to someone. Woke up to find I’d overslept two hours, and my son had slept through his alarm as well. Since he would have been late to make it to physical-school on time, he had to do remote learning.

I keep forgetting the dream, then getting flashes of it. I really have some PTSD from this thing. I keep telling people we’re doing fine (because we are, basically), but this whole thing has really been disruptive and abnormal!

The music part sucks for sure, they even banned the outdoor drive in concerts which were being planned. The great weather has made these possible but not to be.

One and done yesterday with J+J. Not much in terms of physical side effects. Some body aches (minor), and injection site soreness. However, I am completely drained today.
Took a while to fall asleep last night, which is rare for me. My job is physical. I'm on my feet all day with lots of light and moderate repetitive lifting. I work ten hour shifts, so
I am usually lights out, I'm out. Which is early, since my shift starts at 5:30 in the morning. Finally fell asleep after 9, and was up at midnight. Been up ever since. Could not
fall asleep again. Feel like a zombie.

Hopefully with vaccination numbers also on the rise, things can finally turn around after this latest lockdown.

My neighbor is a nurse and just called with two extra vaccines, wanting to know if me and the wife wanted them. We had to pass. I really don't like jumping the line. But, they are throwing these two away, it seems, and if the timing was better...

Honestly, I'd rather wait until we all can do it after April 19, so we can take my daughters and get done at the same time. Make it a family affair.

A surprising number of my friends suggested jumping the line. Some went across the state line to get theirs. Others said, "Just tell them you're a smoker, or that you work at a grocery store."

In each case, I told them that others who are more vulnerable need them first and I am willing to wait my turn. I don't need to take their spot.

    People are so fucking self-serving.

There's a couple of live streams that we were going to buy tickets for (The Trews and Blue Rodeo) but hadn't got around to it yet. I'm glad we waited.

Sure, the same two week period applies after your second shot, it takes that long to be considered “fully” vaccinated and reach maximum efficacy, so 5 weeks total for Pfizer and 6 for Moderna from jab 1. The J&J one shotter gets you to max in 4 weeks. You’ll be at around 80% when you get shot 2 for all so the first shot obviously does the heavy lifting.

A couple of weeks ago they opened a vaccination center at the vacant grocery store that is located roughly 60 seconds from my house. This center was for first responders, essential workers, and 55+. That left me out, but that was ok. Today I picked up some to-go in that shopping center and as I walked by the check-in table I asked who was allowed to get the vaccine. They told me to come back about 5:30-6pm as they usually have extra doses and accept walk-ups. I asked if that was ok, as I was only asking what the process was. She said it was fine because they can't control the amount of people that show up to receive. I arrived at 5:30, filled out my paperwork, escorted to a specific table station, and that was it. Got the Johnson & Johnson and outta there! My arm is a bit sore, tingling throughout down to my wrist.

I now have a 2nd birthdate to celebrate each year!

Got Pfizer Vaccine #2 this afternoon. So far as of around 11:30PM, no ill effects. After getting our shots, the wife and I went out and walked 3 miles on a local nature trail, then went for some dinner & beers with a couple of friends. We have nothing planned tomorrow just in case we feel bad, but so far so good.

A sore arm for a day was all, after Pfizer #2 10 days ago. I felt worse after the first shot. My wife got #2 on Tuesday, and reports the same.

North Carolina health officials said on Thursday that they stopped administering Johnson & Johnson doses at a mass vaccination site in Raleigh and at clinics in Hillsborough and Chapel Hill after at least 26 people experienced adverse reactions, including fainting.

Four people were taken to hospitals for further examination, and state and federal health officials are reviewing the matter.

My arm is pretty sore this morning, but other than that I feel normal.
