the last few George Duke are a little over the top for me (the live on is okay)... too technical in many ways... It's also probably due to the over-escalation that happened in the later 70's. (that Parliament track was also too much for my white arse.)
Difficult to dance to that kind of stuff... at least for the invertebrate whitie I am.
It's like that for almost every 70's style (except Reggae maybe): I tend to prefer the early 70's to the later 70's, not just the sonics, but also the mood, the intent, et al...

I'm fascinated with a funk stuff that has been played by Eastern European musicians and how their take on funk was finely "proggy". There's a number of THE instrumentals like these on Youtube.
