First of all, I kind of liked it. Does that make me a bad person?
Second, it seemed to me like the concentrated essence of Jon Anderson.
Cobra handling and cocaine use are a bad mix.
That's the worst drum programming I've ever heard!
(Jon's wig looks good though.)
"Wouldn't it be odd, if there really was a God, and he looked down on Earth and saw what we've done to her?" -- Adrian Belew ('Men In Helicopters')
I watched about a minute of it. Is his voice still that high today?
All joking aside, this is just very Jon Anderson. I'm not even remotely surprised by it (does anyone remember "The More You Know"?). But yeah, while it's not unpleasant, it's clearly a trifle. Pointing that out is not "shitting all over it."
"Arf." -- Frank Zappa, "Beauty Knows No Pain" (live version)
Personally, I think it's a TON more fun than that last Yes'O album. There's a lot of negativity in the YES camp, but I found none in the video.
This video could fit the Sunshine Pop thread, though
Exactly
Did anyone mind The Gabe's Sledgehammer or Big Time videos??
This isn't far away.
Yup, this is well in the frame that I got him pictured in my mind.
my music collection increased tenfolds when I switched from drug-addicts to complete nutcases.
The video would make a great commercial for Starburst Fruit Chews, if they still make them.
I don't mind it at all. Kind of fun. Just wish the vocal track were in synch with the lips. Like watching a cheaply dubbed Japanese monster movie. Fun but painful.

Looking forward to my day in court.

Shocking video, even worse miming, but I don't mind the song too much. No, it is not a Prog God tune, but neither is it awful. It's just happy and corny pop.
Wow! Jon Anderson has accepted Steve Hacketts worst-greenscreen-video challenge!!! The gloves are off!!!
He'll make a mint off this tune. When he brought out the little fuzzy stuffed animal......well. So be it.
The older I get, the better I was.
It's not that bad. Reminds me a little of "Lightning Strikes," though not as well-produced. The lyric about this being the first day of the rest of your life is completely unoriginal and should have been jettisoned.
I can imagine, in the old days, Jon bringing something like this into the band and Steve, Rick, Chris, and Bill turning it into something more sophisticated without robbing the song of its energy and positive atmosphere.
Take the horrendous video away and I can happily take this as a bit of cheesy Jon. It definitely has that Surrender or All In A Matter of Time vibe. Doesn't take the top spot away from Olympia as my fave naff Jon song, though. The lyrics to that are easily the best thing he's ever written
I just watched it again. I think it's one of the happiest videos I've seen in a long time, and since the news these days is so MF-ing bad and gets me down all the time, I'll take this.
Why is it whenever someone mentions an artist that was clearly progressive (yet not the Symph weenie definition of Prog) do certain people feel compelled to snort "thats not Prog" like a whiny 5th grader?
