The Enid might be in hibernation, but their one time singer continues to strike out on his own. Joe Payne has now released three singles. I Need A Change was a truly heartfelt declaration - even if it lacked the beauty or the hooks of his best work with the Enid. What Is the World Coming To? demonstrated what the incarnation of the Enid that he was in would have sounded like if they had been listening to A New World Record in the studio.

Now comes End of the Tunnel, the third single. It's Payne's best release to date. Really worth a listen on You Tube.

Largely Payne seems to have abandoned the musical theatre that characterized his later work with the Enid and seems to be opting for what is probably best described as orchestrated pop-prog.
