I sympathize with your wife, Steve F. I’ve tried to “like” Carla Diratz but her voice makes me cringe. Folks love her though so this must be an exclusive to me problem. I think I pissed Newhouse off cause I said her “electric suite” is awful. And, her take on Wyatt’s “sea song”, oy vey! Anyway, I love “the marble index.” Nico’s best!

    the chanteuse lives.

I saw the Feelies do an all Velvet Underground set this saturday evening in Jersey City. fabulous! the floor was moving up and down to the crowd's hard bop. loudest ovation was in fact for their Brenda led version of 'All Tomorrow's Parties'

I also had to laugh at some of the Hall of Fame discussion here regarding VU and I presume, their assumed unmusicality. context

The one song that I always go back to is her version of My Funny Valentine on her “Camera Obscura” album. Cale’s arrangement is beautifully simple, and Nico’s vocal, IMO, is amazing. It will seem at times like she’s wildly off-key, except she isn’t at all. Somehow that’s what makes the song work so well.

Love most of her solo albums and I feel very lucky to have seen her live twice.

It's a good album and I don't think that intimidating.

I blame Wynton, what was the question?

Very. One should be intimidated by sublimity; the sublime is terrifying.

    These are the indispensable albums.

    Marble Index
    Desert Shore
    The End

I have heard her live once, accompanied by to Iranian guys.
The audience ruined it beacuse they couldn't shut up in the quieter songs.
