It starts off okay, but Wakeman's Polymoog stuff makes it practically unlistenable for me.

I like the instrumental bit towards the end in '...UFO' but the lyrics are stupid and Wakeman's synth sounds have gone way over the cliff edge by this point.

"Arriving UFO" is a very cool song with a lot of interesting ideas in it, suffering only from goofy lyrics ("I am shocked...shocked...to hear goofy lyrics in a Yes song!") and too much sonic clutter in the high end.

    Agreed

and too much sonic clutter in the high end
Man, to me the WHOLE album suffers from too much high end EVERYTHING. I want to scratch my eyes out everytime I hear it.
If any album needs the Steven Wilson treatment it's this one.

Who owns what remains a huge complex mystery... but Downes, with Howe and White, appears to co-own Yes Touring LLC (or something like that), the corporate form of the band as a touring entity.

Not a big fan of the song, but that does indeed sound like YES.

They sound great here. Not a huge fan of the song either but the band sounds great with lots of energy behind Jon's excellent voice. He's 73!

Everybody sounds great on that. Lee Pomeroy even does a nice job on vocals.

But why did they cut out the second verse?
Music isn't about chops, or even about talent - it's about sound and the way that sound communicates to people. Mike Keneally

That line at 2:19 sounds uncannily like Squire.

I thought Wakeman was a bit of a weak link with those "plink plink plink" chords, but once we get to that classic widdly-widdly Minimoog solo...joy. (Onomatopoeia ahoy!)

Good pickup Scott. Just noticed it after your comment.

    No clue as to why.

anyone going to the show this weekend? decided we couldn't justify another little trip this year so will see if they add some more shows next year near us.

This could deserve it's on thread but this whole episode seems to be about his Yes video getting taken down. There are a lot of other Yes related comments in it.

Rick Beato is a musician/producer who has an amazing amount of music theory and music business knowledge, and makes great videos. His live late night segments often tend to just be about his experience doing YouTube videos, so to see the other ones you have to poke around on his two channels.

I wish the show I saw sounded this good sonically. The sound was very muddy when I saw them. Of course this was carefully mixed in a studio. Very impressive though...

Shame, that was a great analysis. Totally should be protected as fair use, too, so I don't blame him for being pissed.

Yes, he had the studio tracks for Roundabout and did it in his Why This Song is Great series.
