MODERN PROG BOOK: "Essential Modern Progressive Rock Albums"

    http://progreport.com/essential-mode...g-rock-albums/

Preorder is up. Covering prog/prog albums from 1990-2016.

I'm rather curious to check this out, the interviews namely. I can't help but be envious, and would like to write a book like this myself (maybe 1 day, lol).

Yeah, the interviews do seem to be worth while, I just find 40 $ (excluding shipping costs) to be a bit steep. Though I guess that also depends on the layout/packaging. I truly hope the picture on the progreport website you just posted has nothing to do with the actual cover of the book...

hmmm, I guess this picture must be the real deal: https://www.rockhard.de/news/newsarc...en-winter.html
I know it's nitpicking and shouldn't (and doesen't) play an important role in my decision making on buying the book but my god do I find that cover hideous...

I'll pass up big time on this, because I cannot agree on a single of their names being "essential" (as shown on their preview), according to moi, of course.
my music collection increased tenfolds when I switched from drug-addicts to complete nutcases.

I don't necessarily have to agree with the selection of albums, but if it's nice enough coffee table book I might get it.

Personally I think including both Normal Love albums was excessive.

Think I'll pass, will go like hot cakes at ROSfest less so at RIO.

I blame Wynton, what was the question?

    "Prog's Most Celebrated Albums 1990-2016"

Do they have any idea just how tiny that celebration is?

You guys are a cynical bunch lol.

I think anyone who attempts to create a printed publication about progressive rock in the last 25 years is already working uphill. But if they are going to write a book about it, it's going to naturally cover the most visible names. Anyone that is going to put in a lot of work and/or a financial investment to put out a product is not going to focus on music that's sold hundreds of copies.

In short, it is what it is. Since there is a great deal of web content to occupy my time for free, a $40 price point is not for me.
