Great news! The current album is easily good enough to make me buy the next one.

Finally spent some time with Op:Mock and I think it's a terrifically entertaining album. If you like the zaniness of past FTV releases, get this one. Noble Obelisk is hilarious and tricky (the crowd chit-chatting in the middle is glorious). And I like the Strawser-rich intro & outro tracks (but then, I would, wouldn't I?).

Thanks, BD. On the crowd chit-chat: Pat's funky Wurlitzer electric piano on that section gave it sort of a Ramsey Lewis/Cannonball Adderly vibe, so we stuck the crowd noise on it.

You might be interested to know that in addition to the next cd, we're re-mixing FTV6 and re-releasing it along with FTV7 as a double cd, complete with bonus tracks.

As for that next cd, here's a clip of Patrick Strawser knocking out a synth solo:

Finally got around to picking this up via Mr. Wayside. Fantastic stuff! So much going on--it will take a lot of listenings to digest.

I'm extremely late to the party on this...just decided to get my French TV collection up to date and bought #11-15 in a bunch. Which leads to this question:

On the back cover of the Operation Mockingbird CD, it lists tracks 5 and 6 as:

    Nimrod Dancer (10:40)
Golden Pheasant of the Infinite Reach (8:35)

Dicogs.com agrees with that listing. Everything else I've seen online has the two switched around (Golden Pheasant is track 5 and 10:40, Nimrod is track 6 and 8:35).

    Which is correct?

From Frnch TV's bandcamp page they show the following:

    1. Ghost Zone 02:29
    2. Noble Obelisk 05:37
    3. Urgent Fury 08:32
    4. Tree Incident 07:40
    5. Golden Pheasant Of The Infinite Reach 10:41
    6. Nimrod Dancer 08:33
    7. Vigilant Sentinel 10:40
    8. Silent Years 03:48

Yeah, but https://french-tv.net/product/french...n-mockingbird/ shows it as:

    1 Ghost Zone 2:37
    2 Noble Obelisk 5:38
    3 Urgent Fury 8:31
    4 Tree Incident 7:38
    5 Nimrod Dancer 10:40
6 Golden Pheasant Of The Infinite Reach 8:35
    7 Vigilant Sentinel 10:40
    8 Silent Years 3:47

It's a weirdly 50/50 split between various sources as to which order those two tracks are in. Google, ProgArchives, RateYourMusic and Bandcamp have #5 as Golden Pheasant and #6 as Nimrod, while the CD case, Discogs.com and French-TV.net have it the other way around. And, of course, there's no way to tell which is right just from listening to them because they're both instrumentals.

^ You can't tell which of the tracks is about a Nimrod Dancer?

I'm sure Mike Sary will be along to answer your question, and enlighten us on the inspiration for that title. Good move updating your FTV collection! I don't have all their releases, but most of them, and since four or five albums ago they became an auto-buy for me.

Well I went at looked at the actual CD in my collection. On the back, it has Nimrod Dancer as the 5th track and Golden Pheasant as the 6th track as you gave above.
