    Tom Petty RIP

    from TMZ:

Tom Petty was rushed to the hospital Sunday night after he was found unconscious, not breathing and in full cardiac arrest ... law enforcement sources tell TMZ.

EMTs rushed to his Malibu home and were able to get a pulse. He was rushed to the UCLA Santa Monica Hospital and our sources say he was put on life support.

Petty's condition is unknown but was critical from the moment he was found.

    UPDATE:
We're told after Petty got to the hospital he had no brain activity and a decision was made to pull life support.

A real shocker- terribly sad. Always seemed like a good guy whenever I saw him interviewed.

Seems a little vague at the moment, but not looking good...

Oh fuck! Not somebody i was a rabid fanboy over but always admired him from afar. Just listened to Hypnotic Eye a few days ago (great album).
He was one of the good guys.

    RIP

I was never much of a fan, but my girlfriend is, and she dragged me to his show this past July. I was glad that I went - knew the words to every song, and he and the Heartbreakers put on a fun show. R.I.P.

    Sigh... what a life.

I once borrowed his Greatest Hits CD and thought unusual that I liked every other song.

So sad. Always liked him too. Heard so much of his stuff growing up, because of my parents. Really too young to go.

I was a child of the 60s. The first time I heard "American Girl" on the radio I thought, "Did Dylan & McGuinn have a child"?

I've always been a fan, not to buy cds (except a Best Of to get "The Waiting", one of my favorite songs), but of his ability to write great songs and have success with my personally always beloved "jangly" sound almost 20 years after its heyday. RIP to someone who earned much respect from the people he grew up listening to (see Orbison, Dylan & Harrison). I'm sad he's gone.

RIP. Never was a huge fan but in recent years have warmed up to the heartland rock sound. Sad news. A friend texted me a short video of Tom at a concert she attended in LA last week.

He was a hundred percent the rock star in every photograph, looked cool as all hell with a cigarette and genuinely seemed one of the good guys. I never got further than his Greatest Hits but can't recall ever hearing a song of his I didn't enjoy.

    This is a particular favourite.

He's apparently still "technically alive," though he does has a no-resuscitation order. But every major media outlet is reporting him to be dead.

    UPDATE

1:35 PM PT -- Sources tell us at 10:30 Monday morning a chaplain was called to Tom's hospital room. We're told the family has a do not resuscitate order on Tom. The singer is not expected to live throughout the day, but he's still clinging to life. A report that the LAPD confirmed the singer's death is inaccurate -- the L.A. County Sheriff's Dept. handled the emergency.

Very sad news. I wasn't a fan of his music, but my condolences go out to his family and friends
