Damn! A favorite of mine. Twin Peaks must have been (at least close to) his last work. He was also a musician.

    RIP.

R.I.P. ... liked him a lot in a variety of roles, but he was particularly effective as Roman in "Big Love".

A giant. He could play any role.

I would not have guessed he was in his 90s.

I forgot he was in Escape From New York. He was also great in Alien, and best of all, Repo Man.

A great actor. First film that came to mind for me was "Cool Hand Luke".

Here's a link to the NY Times obit. I'd try to post the text, but there are a couple of pictures here you'll want to see, especially one of him, Nastassia Kinski, and Wim Wenders. I've actually never seen "Paris, Texas" so I guess I need to.

Actually Paris, Texas is the only movie with him I've seen.

    Nope

I don't see much movies. I only saw Paris, Texas, because someone had thought of this for our first date.

Well, there goes an actor who always looked as though he was about to go any time. A fine career.

He had a great part in an episode of Two and a Half Men in a gathering with Charlie Sheen, Sean Penn and Elvis Costello.

Alien, Escape from New York and Repo Man: the three "must-see" Harry Dean movies!

    RIP. You will be missed.

"Twin Peaks", "Green Mile", "Alien", "Paris, Texas"... An underestimated actor, who did more with less, and his roles were always fascinating and multidimensional.

    RIP
