One album I'd add to these lists, by Harmonia, is Harmonia - Live 1974; I think it's an astonishing achievement, a remarkable document of what these visionaries were able to achieve in a live setting.

I'm surprised not to see more recommendations for Klaus Schulze. X and Cyborg are both excellent, but the first side of Irrlicht is, for me, the most stunning piece of work.

If nobody recommended Out of Focus - FLMA then those Krautrock fans have some way to go !

BTW if you do Gnosis (list based on the statistical inference of multiple fans) and select Germany this is your top 15

    Agitation Free : Malesch
    Amon Düül II : Yeti
    Embryo : Steig Aus
Tortilla Flat : Fur ein 3/4 Stündchen
    Eiliff : Eiliff
Twenty Sixty Six and Then : Reflections! (Second Battle CD reissue)
    Agitation Free : Second
    Can : The Peel Sessions
    Embryo : Rocksession
Agitation Free : At the Cliffs of River Rhine (aka Live '74)
    Kollektiv : Kollektiv
Out of Focus : Four Letter Monday Afternoon
Popol Vuh : Einsjager & Siebenjager
Amon Düül II : Tanz der Lemminge
Ash Ra Tempel : Ash Ra Tempel

I had to sum up what I've read so far the majority would fall into the "big five" of krautrock:

    Can
    Amon Duul/II
    Tangerine Dream/Ashra/Schulze arc
    Kraftwerk/Neu!/Cluster/Harmonia/Rother arc
    Popol Vuh

Looks like Julian Copes book! There's a lot of music in there, and a lot of very different types of music. Most if not all are covered in my book as well

    Pretty good list here:

    https://rateyourmusic.com/customchar...one&countries=

Of course you'll run into questions of classification; I don't think any Berlin school music is considered here.

    1. Can - Tago Mago
    2. Can - Future Days
    3. Can - Ege Bamyasi
    4. Faust - IV
    5. NEU! - S/T
    6. NEU! - 75
    7. Amon Duul II - Yeti
    8. Faust - S/T
    9. Kraftwerk - Autobahn
    10. Can - Monster Movie
