Thread: July 2017 issue of Prog

    July 2017 issue of Prog

I recommend the new issue of Prog (July 2017). There's 12 pages on Yes vs Yes ft Anderson Rabin Wakeman, with Howe, Anderson, White, Wakeman, Rabin, Downes, Sherwood and Davison all interviewed. Plenty of juicy news. Highlights include:

*ARW wanted Lee Pomeroy on bass at the Hall of Fame induction
*ARW asked Yes to call themselves Yes ft Howe, White etc. before the induction
*Most of Howe's comments on ARW withdrawn so couldn't be used: described as "colourful"!
*ARW album now expected summer 2018, with main studio work Jan/Feb 2018
*Continuity Yes may schedule writing sessions for a new album in early 2018
*Continuity Yes planning 50th anniversary tour backed by Warners (i.e. Atlantic)

Various other things in the magazine, like a nice piece on the BBC Radiophonic Workshop.

And I thought a particularly nice CD this month, in particular tracks from Mumpbeak and Bubblemath.

Thanks for providing some information on why this issue is a waste of money...
Enjoy the moment... It's the only way to fly!

A 50th anniversary tour with nobody who was actually there. Sounds authentic! I wonder if YES f/ARW will have a competing 50th Anniversary Tour?

Not sure which issue this is, but the local B&N now has the one with the Marillion Script cover and posters.

Don't you mean the Clutching cover, or is it a really old issue?

Even worse, my local B&N still has the Genesis Wind and Wuthering cover issue, which was before the Marillion one. The Yes one is the issue after the Marillion one.

I was typing Clutching but iOS changed it to Script! Ok, not really... Doh!

They'll probably get it in soon, I think mine only had it for a few days at most when I bought it.

OK, I was wro...wron... You were right (that is easier) Henry about the ARW album not being released this year. Rabin said last December AWR was going to devote Jan/Feb to recording so assumed a summer release. It makes more sense to put it out next year though and Rabin has said how much he wants to get it right.

Having just returned to the U.S. from London, I must say those living in the U.K. are fortunate to have Prog and other magazines at their disposal. The Yes issue cost me £7.99 there while it will sell here for $14.99. I bought a magazine called Long Live Vinyl in London for £6.99. In the U.S., Barnes & Noble sells the same magazine for $19.99! I was surprised you can even buy packages of two magazines (Mojo & Uncut) for £6.99 (no CDs).

YES f/ARW could mount a 2nd Anniversary tour.

There's a deluxe live box coming to coincide with the 2nd anniversary tour called "the early years" 55 cd box with full colour booklet.

For the real fans there's an even bigger box coming just a bit later.

    Autobuy!!!

If there's a Kickstarter for that, I'm in!

Since 2001, Yes has created about 30 minutes of good, new music: 15 minutes on Fly From Here and 15 minutes on H&E, being generous with the latter.

When ARW finally releases new songs it will be clear they are every bit as much Yes as is Steve Howe and The Gang.

Not to mention a waste of energy and paper

Come on, now. We're not talking about King Crimson here.

By today they're almost one and the same, I reckon.

I looked at it in Tesco's and decided not to buy it after all, just a load of old waffle.

Perhaps, yet I won't buy a magazine costing £7.99. Just can't justify it.

Very true. Yes F/ARW are celebrating their 1st Anniversary and have yet to release anything. Maybe their box would include some of that revered "ARW" tour merch.

A Yes special? Cool, love new approaches! At last Prog features something off the beaten track!

C'mon... its not just about the old bands. They write about young up and coming bands like Marillions too.
