    Third Ear Band

  2. #2
^ I remember a former associate of mine who once frequented the 70s free festival circuit in the UK, claiming how there'd usually be the Third Ear Band for impossible stones and Donovan for lengthy sleeps. Apparently they'd both play standard sets of 2-3 hours.

I still love Music from MacBeth (arguably the very first proper 'chamber-rock' album), and Elements has some truly captivating improvisations to show for. They were an intriguing ensemble for sure.

Wonder how a current festival audience would've reacted to 3 1/2 hours of oboe/handdrum/cello ragas over the speakers.

^ Walt, you'd want to start with MacBeth; all through-composed, electroacoustic nightmareish soundscapes perfectly enhancing Polanski's film - where the director came off of his Tate/Manson trauma. Incendiary! And somewhat proto-Zoyd/Zero.

No, the Beat Club footage was what was released.

Elements first, then Macbeth for me. Also worth mentioning is their late 80's incarnation (for the purpose of an italian tour) that offered the very good Magic Music album.
