    That was 1965, and it includes 'tape music' in amongst the piano, bass and percussion. Parts of it remind me of Frank Zappa's tape music in Lumpy Gravy and WOIIFTM from a couple years later.

    The Bob James Trio also released "Bold Conceptions" in 1962, produced by Quincy Jones after Bob won a piano jazz competition. It's a mixture of straight ahead piano jazz with some 'extended techniques' like plucking the strings of the piano and the drummer hitting lots of items beside drums.

    I can't thank you enough for turning me onto these. I had no idea.
