My bad too! I hadn't noticed that she was playing with an orchestra at the festival at all.
Terrible timing and the archilles heel of the festival, as far as I am concerned. Going to make me choose between Carla or Ahleuchatistas? DAMN YOU, Big Ears!!! (shakes fist at the festival!)

I read a review of part of the weekend here:

This tidbit caught my eye. Who knows what the future will resemble
Big Ears has been purchased by Live Nation in the past year and it will be interesting to see if a mega-enterprise like Live Nation, by its nature risk-averse, can effectively direct and support a festival celebrating risk-takers going forward. But for now it’s enough to celebrate and enjoy Big Ears and the fruits of musical risk-taking over these four days.

Hmmmm...not the bestest of news I would have hoped to have heard, but will reserve judgement until I see how it shapes things going forward.
If you're actually reading this then chances are you already have my last album but if NOT and you're curious:

OK. A different bit of intel, Brighter Future!
Last year Live Nation purchased a majority stake in AC Entertainment, however Big Ears was not part of that acquisition as it is a registered 501(c) non-profit organization. This allows the group to continue to curate an event that highlights non-dance music not usually found on a festival stage.

I do a small, oddly-syncopated and heavily drone-influenced dance of joy for this news

I'm going to sit in the dark and let the news wash over me at extremely high volume.

When i was last at Big Ears, i saw Nief-Norf(i recall you guys were there also) and was impressed enough to see them again the next day in a Knoxville church. If i had known they were going to play Morton Feldman-Crippled Symmetry, one of Morty's marathon trio opuses i would have demurred.I lasted ninety minutes and split, more than half the audience had bounced before i did.I'd have loved to see Nief-Norf do Timber,a composition and cd i have and dig.
C'est dommage.
