    RIP John Wetton

Details are sketchy at the moment but here we are, it's been confirmed by Jakko Jakszyk.

I just now saw this on facebook. He just got married to Lisa and things were appearing to get better, but Creator has called him home. We are all in shock.

Farewell good man. You fought the good fight, and bravely at that. Thankfully, you've left so much fantastic music, and THAT will never die.

I was just thinking, this means that we've lost the (IMHO) two best King Crimson vocalists in a matter of weeks, and- as far as I'm aware- to the same disease, cancer.

I can't even imagine what is going through Billy Sherwood's heart and mind right now. First he loses Chris Squire and agreed as we all know to re-join Yes by Chris' request, and now he was asked by John to stand-in for him for the Journey/Asia tour until he got well enough to return.....now John's passing changes everything. OMG! Carl Palmer and Geoff Downes must be devastated to lose their brother from Asia. Steve Howe and Sam Coulson as well. Eddie Jobson.....wow! He loved John too.

Oh that's simply tragic, I thought from recent news he was making a fist of the fight against this wretched disease. RIP John and thank you for so much wonderful music.

Awful. Loved the man's work. He carved a wide path for others to follow.

Confirmed by Geoff Downes on Twitter: https://twitter.com/asiageoff/status/826383859533115392

A huge loss, much of what I love in prog came from Wetton. I am glad I was fortunate enough to see Wetton play in UK and the reunion Asia in recent years. That this comes so soon after losing Greg Lake and Chris Squire as well...

Does that make his appearance on the Action Moves People United album (see http://www.bondegezou.co.uk/wnyesm.htm#mandela ) his last work?

This is just so absolutely tremendously awful. Horrible.

I'm very sad to hear this. He ultimately lost his battle to this awful disease, but he fought with dignity. Rest in peace. I'll be playing Live in Mainz today in his memory.

Very sad. My favorite Crim vocalist, a great all round musician and seemingly fantastic man. Rest easy sir.

^ Cancer is a horrid disease (or group of diseases). Over 8 million a year die from it around the world, but medical science has made huge progress in treatments. We -- individually or collectively through our governments -- can work against cancer through funding good healthcare and research.

Today, I think I will listen to some live UK.

All I can say is thank you for much listening pleasure, & my sincerest condolences to his family & closest friends.

Oh no. Another of my heroes gone. I was afraid of this when he bowed out of the upcoming shows...Just awful. Thanks John, for all the music. We'll miss you.

good company for 35 years. a giant among men – always sincere, often brutally honest and ever the pragmatist … but always a consummate performer who wore his heart on his sleeve more times than people often cared to acknowledge. i am very sad today. rest in peace, absent friend. listening to “bury me in willow” will be even more poignant as we see our own age advance.
