Just started watching the doc...very cool, thanks!
I have a Tristam Cary collection called Soundings at home, haven't listened in a while though. Might have to change that this evening

Meanwhile, in totally "all about me" selfish type news and stuff...my Deckards Dream has begun it's long voyage from Japan to my doorstep. Not quite ready to camp in front of my mailbox yet, but still, the end is freaking nigh! Very excited/eager to disappear for a couple of days/weeks and start exploring this box.

Really looking forward to hearing your impressions of the Deckard!

Demos of a few presets have been uploaded: https://soundcloud.com/deckardsdream
23 and 28 are my faves thus far, but they are all pretty cool for presets.

Hot god damn...Godzilla must've taken my package and given that sucker a hail mary across the pond, because the synth arrived TODAY
It sounds awesome...lots to learn, lots to experiment with, lots to look forward to.

The presets will probably sound better than me
I'm actually headed out of town for a few days, but am bringing it along in a portable rack so I can start learning the ins/outs on the road. Initial impressions are very, very positive, although the operating system took a bit of experimenting to figure out (there's no manual for the synth yet).
Bring on Blade Runner 2059! I'm ready

So, uhhh...how much did you plunk down for that? Hope that's not too personal an inquiry.
It cost roughly the same as my Voyager did six years ago. Not cheap by any stretch, but still roughly 1/4 of what a mint condition CS-80 would set me back ;-)
This wasn't a "need" kind of purchase...it was a pure "want" because, well...YOLO
Deckard's Dream--ok, I'm jealous. Don't mind my synth fetish.
Something something cold dead hands something something...
Actually, it's been an interesting week with the new gadget. And to be clear, this is a boutique item that is *very* much a 1.0 kind of product. As such, there were bound to be some issues to iron out. And sure enough, there have! I've been less using it to create music, but rather working through various quirks in the firmware and hardware, helping to identify possible oversights and things that can be corrected in the next firmware revision, etc.. Just for example, it doesn't *seem* that the pitch bend/ribbon has any effect once a key is released, which causes some strangeness when doing those pitch "dives" into nothingness. I'm also having issues where the cooling fan isn't coming on/off as it should on startup.
Having said all of that though...this thing is very, very, very cool. It's just so damned playable. The sounds are gorgeous, and if I push it through my Linnstrument with MPE, I can get all sorts of cool effects like the polyphonic aftertouch and pitchbends. The Mercury 7 pedal adds just the right amount of synth-y reverb too.
With a little luck, some of these quirks will be ironed out in the coming few weeks, and I can spend the holiday vacation just recreating "Five Circles" endlessly

Errr...okay, so I kind of crapped this out quickly tonight:

The playing is very rough (I'm still getting the hang of the whole MPE/poly AT/poly pitch thing, plus I still can't really navigate the Linnstrument grid as smoothly as a piano keyboard), but this is all just one patch I threw together, using AT to trigger the LFO speed and depth, with polyphonic pitch bends and whatnot. The Mercury 7 is adding a bit of reverb too.

Yeah, it is pretty awesome. It's been a very fun experience learning how to make it purr
