Rabin reveals a few ARW details in new interview

    Interesting interview here...

    http://progreport.com/trevor-rabin-interview/

    Headlines:
    • They haven't started rehearsing yet
    • They plan to approach old songs in new ways "but not in obscure or abstract ways"
    • There'll be "a lot from 90125" including, of course, "Owner"
    • "A couple of tracks from Talk"
    • Thinking about "a couple of songs from BG" and definitely playing "Shoot High Aim Low"
    • Don't want to debut new stuff because "it's not ready" and "will end up on YouTube"

Or not even written yet, if it ever will be.

I think quite a bit of music has been written: part of what had been Trevor Rabin's next solo album with vocals and the ARW songs written a while ago. My guess is that they are deciding what goes on the ARW album or EP if they record that.

My guess: Rick and Trevor received demos from Jon that were in essentially the same state that Roine Stolt got for IOK.

Much head scratching ensued which hasn't ended yet.
I'm holding out for the Wilson-mixed 5.1 super-duper walletbuster special anniversary extra adjectives edition.

Seems likely they'll play at least

    No-brainers
    Owner
    Rhythm of Love
    Roundabout

    Mentioned by A, R, or W
    Shoot High Aim Low
    Perpetual Change
    Mind Drive

    Educated guesses
    I am Waiting
    Endless Dream
    Changes
    Heart of the Sunrise

    beyond that... ????

I'd guess more 90125 tracks-- Hold On, maybe Hearts. And some obvious chestnuts-- ISAGP, GFTO, ST.

The thing is, even though they are warhorse/chestnuts, neither Rabin nor Wakeman originally played on ISAGP or ST. With so much material to choose from (but none that they all created together) I would imagine they'd stick mostly to songs that at least two of them can claim as their own... but who knows?

And put me down for "Hearts" as well. Always dug that one

They won't play GFTO, or anything that features Steve Howe's pedal steel. I think the only 70s songs likely to come up for consideration (because Trevor has played them at some point in the past) are:

    - Yours Is No Disgrace
    - Starship Trooper
    - I've Seen All Good People
    - Perpetual Change
    - Roundabout
    - Long Distance Runaround
    - Heart of the Sunrise
    - And You And I
    - Awaken

That's a sizeable chunk of music and as long as they go a good job balancing it against the 80s/90s stuff they could pull off a nice setlist. The other X factor will be the other band members and how well they step into their roles in the arrangements.

my guess: they were the SAME demos, hence no new ARW music..?

Rabin talks about his solo album with vocals as an ongoing thing, which would imply it hasn't been cannibalised for ARW.

Yep, I caught that. If you think about his 1989 album Can't Look Away, there isn't much there that would sound in place on an 80s Yes album apart from maybe a Yesified version of "Can't Look Away".

I assumed that would be similar with his new solo album but could see that he might want to put more on the ARW album if out this year. I think it is good news that there won't be an ARW album until next year since a better chance to be a mini-classic among Yes fans*.

Should be fun. We haven't gotten enough 1980s Yes in recent years for obvious reasons. I really hope that they "Wakemanize" the 80s tracks, given that they have the man himself in the group.

Wakeman is quite familiar with the style of their planned setlist and maybe he will even throw some of his 80s solo hits into the mix:

^Indeed! When the focus is apparently on the 80s stuff, Wakeman has less of an obvious role.

Anyone know how the ticket sales are going so far?

UK dates have almost sold out, certainly all stalls & 1st tier seats have gone! Had to pay a premium price for a 'box seat' in Nottingham! Wasn't going to miss this!

Originally three hour and 40 minutes show. Since then edited but still long. I wonder how long it will be.

Add 15 minutes of solos and you might have a complete set list. I could live without the no-brainers.
