Steve Howe talks about Drama and the upcoming USA tour in new interview

Except for the really annoying way that the interviewer pronounces "Drama", I thought this was as interesting listen. And very very cool that Trevor Horn will be singing with Yes at select USA dates:

    Quotes from the interview:

The Album Series Tour (time 2.09): "It's a lot more inventive than just playing Roundabout or Heart Of The Sunrise because we are actually playing the whole album. It's a kind of opportunity... A demonstration of what we do instead of saying, 'Here's the song you know best from the album'. We play the whole album and it gives you a chance to experience things that sometimes have never been onstage like Run Through The Night."

Discussing Chris Squire starts at 4.59

"We knew that Chris had contributed a great deal to the band and we'd never done a show without him so we just kind of 'got on'... After a few nights I did start to look over at Billy and get a nice friendly tingle that Billy was the only person that could stand in for Chris..."

Why was Trevor Horn not the vocalist on multiple YES albums (time 8.53): "The opposition we saw in Europe (well Britain mainly)... People we quite rude to Trevor and we were quite upset about it..."

Working on QUEEN's INNUENDO album starts at 13.36

Nice to hear Steve's enthusiasm in this discussion. Having interviewed him once, I was surprised at how passionate he was in interview, rather than grumpy or unpleasant as some of the stories you hear would make you expect. Anyway, interesting listen, thanks !

10:00 to 10:00 sounds interesting. "We can't tell you what that is..."

It's good that he's positive about Billy. Maybe it's different now because Billy isn't "competing" with him like when he was a second guitarist on stage back in the 90's. Steve always looked kinda ticked off at having to share the stage with another guitarist.

Not sure that "inventive" is the word I would use here, since every band that's been around for over 20 years has been doing it for a long time now.

Is "Canadian" an accent? I know I can never distinguish between people from Nova Scotia, people from Toronto, people from Quebec, etc...

Nice interview....didn't really reveal anything too news-worthy but always nice to hear SH ruminate on stuff.

Yeah, the interviewer's pronunciation of Drama was a bit weird but Howe's pronunciation of Fragile (as: British fraj-ahyl as opposed to my/American pronunciation as: fraj-uhl) also sounds odd.

    Thanks for posting...

If Mitch Lafon didn't put "Rock Journalist" under his name, would it matter? It's not like anyone listening cares or is thinking, "I wonder if he's a Rock journalist. He might be a bus driver or accountant."

There was a Canadian announcer who always pronounced the hockey player Johan Franzen's name as (phonetic approximation here) "Yo-hann Frann-zen," with the "ann" sounding just like the proper name Ann -- while American announcers would use an "ah" sound, so "Yo-hahn Frahn-zen." I just thought it was some weird quirk of the announcer, until I realized it was common for Canadians to change the "a" sound in words like "drama" and "pasta." Pretty interesting, really:

I think that would be "round a boot" not "round a boat". I didn't listen to this interview yet but I'm nervous in hearing that Steve Howe got a "tingle" in looking at Billy Sherwood.

^ How do you sing "Roundabout" in American?

    "I'll be the traffic circle..."??

The way you suggest how Canadians pronounce that is, in general, how we would pronounce it in the UK too.
