Unfortunately not where it would do any good. Maybe if I camp out on Joe Travers's lawn...

I mean that Hollywood Palladium show is the day before the one I've been begging for all these years.

Its lovely having new releases but I do wish the rest of the discography was properly available. There are several albums I fancy but can't buy at sensible prices.

This is from your show - notice that AZ & JT mixed / produced it.

I recently came across Funky Nothingness and Zappa '75: Zagreb/Ljubljana in my local store and of course had to buy them. $81 for the two of them! That hurt.

I just picked this up not long ago at a reduced price. The packaging is awful. Wasteful. I AM glad I have it for the music but man... swing and a massive miss on that package. Clam shell Wazoo was much better at least.

I didn't think Erie was bad at all: six CDs in a package around the size of a double LP (one half inch thick). Not as economical as the Waka Wazoo box you cite, but much more so than the Hot Rats box (also six CDs, but a full inch thick). And I like the 12" format's scope for bigger photos and artwork. Erie wasn't the best example of that, but the interior art was at least...interesting.

Yeah. I agree with ya on the Hot Rats Sessions. I guess the scale of the text and what was in Erie - just made it seem less than ideal to me. Large fonts and space filling vibes. The material on the cds is ace for sure.

Erie remains stubbornly above £100. That's brutal.

Shocking that even Freak Out is out of print, although you can still get MOFO, which includes the original album in its entirety.

There was a blink-and-you-miss-it opportunity to get Erie for £78 in the UK a few months ago - still arguably on the expensive side but if there's plenty of unsold copies about then a similar low price could happen again!

I wonder if Erie might be the last of the OTT packaging experiments. I was fully expecting the Over-nite Sensation box to be a super-deluxe box and am more than happy that it will be a relatively reasonably priced clamshell like M70, M71 & W/W. Have poorer sales of Erie and the Halloween boxes helped to encourage more appropriate packaging trends? Hope so!

    I mean...yeah. I'm going to buy this.
Please don't ask questions, just use google.

I hope you're right about that. These monstrous things are pretty dumb IMO.

I think Erie was the last before Universal took over, and they probably saw that the sales were not as high as other smarter price & packaged releases.

I hear that the audio is a must have, but the one thing that really turns me off about it is this... if I wanted vinyl sized packaging, I would buy vinyl!
The Marillion and Jethro Tull book sets are the biggest and smarter way to go.

I guess it hasn't been mentioned yet here..

Next release (shipping date in November) will be a 50th anniversary box for Over-Nite Sensation with outtakes/alternates and two shows from the early 1973 U.S. tour with that lineup, plus a Blu-ray with surround and Atmos mixes.

Isn't that awesome? Duke sounds like he's soloing even when he's just comping. You hardly miss the overdubbed solos and vocals--it sounds like a complete track as it is.
