Is there a release date set?
Please don't ask questions, just use google.
Never let good music get in the way of making a profit.

“Remember, if it doesn't say "Cuneiform," it's not prog!” - THE Jed Levin
Any time any one speaks to me about any musical project, the one absolute given is "it will not make big money". [tip of the hat to HK]
"Death to false 'support the scene' prog!"
please add 'imo' wherever you like, to avoid offending those easily offended.
P.S. I had not realized it was professionally recorded and filmed.

Details :
''On July 23, 1968, Frank Zappa & The Mothers of Invention took over the Whisky a Go Go for an all-night affair. Although bits and pieces were released by Zappa over the years, a full live album never happened, and the tapes sat in the vault for 56 years. Now all three sets by The Mothers are being released as Whisky a Go Go 1968, featuring brand new 2023 mixes on 3-CD, 5LP and a 2-LP highlights edition with liner notes by Joe Travers, Pamela Des Barres (The GTO’s), and an interview between Alice Cooper and Ahmet Zappa. The album will also be available to stream digitally on June 21st!
This release compiles everything The Mothers of Invention played in their designated sets, complete and newly re-mixed from hi-res digital transfers of the original master tapes. Yet another historic moment in time from the vault and a reminder of how special the original Mothers of Invention were. ''

There was something unique about this band.
The early Mothers bundled together an odd combination of people: Half were trained jazz/classical musicians who understood Frank's music and could confidently play what he wanted (Gardner, Underwood, Preston, Tripp). The other half were LA bar-band types whom FZ had cajoled and browbeaten into approximating it as well as they could, and were hanging on for dear life (Black, Estrada, Sherwood, Collins). Nobody else ever really sounded like them - not even Frank's later, more accomplished bands - and that sound came as much from their weakness as their strengths. Something in the primitive musicianship of the bar-band contingent gave his music a quality it never had with his more polished ensembles. Maybe a sort of directness - he HAD to write parts that Jimmy and Roy could play, and that meant they couldn't be too intricate. The result was a one-of-a-kind mix of crudity and sophistication.
And to other musicians whose compositional and musical reach exceeded their grasp, it may have made their big artistic ambitions seem attainable. I know it did for me.
^ Well said!
