"Best" new prog you've heard in...

..the last 2 or 3 years?

Which prog bands/artists have really gotten you fired up about newer prog in recent years?

Schooltree - Rise. Not really prog but excellent nevertheless, and Big Big Train - English Electric Part 2 are two that immediately come to mind.

These are the bands that I think have debut albums since 2013 that I really dig:

    Macroscream
    Ampledeed
    Ingranaggi della Valle
    Oxhuitza
    Volto
Pampa Trash (just discovered this band whose debut is 2014, absolutely love them!)
    Seven Impale
    PropheXy
    Zletovsko
    Grand General

A few I think are good, but perhaps not quite as good as those above. In fairness, some of these probably need a fresh listen:

    Bill in The Tea
    Zeptelar
    Rafart
I Know You Well Miss Clara
    Progenesi
    Lady with the Monkey, The
    Spoke of Shadows
    Ni
    Vak
    M-Opus

I have no memory of this one at the moment, but I liked it enough to keep it. I'll give it a fresh spin in the next few days and report back:

    Feat.Esserela

new artists (and or albums) *to me* in the last few years

    Alco Frisbass
    Lander, Maat
    Ske
    Eccentric Orbit
    Grand General
    Hooffoot
    Jaga Jazzist
    Quantum Fantay
    Special Providence

and the greatest album (for me) of the last few years came last year from a 90s band
Asturias - Missing Piece Of My Life
Why is it whenever someone mentions an artist that was clearly progressive (yet not the Symph weenie definition of Prog) do certain people feel compelled to snort "thats not Prog" like a whiny 5th grader?

I would have listed PoiL as well, was surprised to see their first release was 2008.

I listened to the Feat.Esserela last night. Decent album, I would probably rate it among the better albums of my "decent" group, or at the lower end of the "great" ones. Some great playing, just not a lot really stood out to me on the composition side. Still a definite keeper, though. Also listened to the debut Utopianisti album, which was 2011, but I enjoyed that one quite a bit. I'm happy they apparently have a new one coming out.
