Lets show respect where it is due.

    That's Bill Bruford, Ph.D.

"Bill Bruford, at 66, Drummer extraordinaire, has been working for 4 1/2 years since his retirement from playing in public on a doctoral dissertation. It is done, and has been awarded a Ph.D by the University of Surrey in Guildford."I know, I know: and to a drummer, too," he says.

His retreat into academic life has evidently made certain demands on him. He has written in a letter to supporters and friends: "I´m thrilled to be back in the land of the living."

His doctoral dissertaion is due to appear as a published book within the next year."
And if there were a god, I think it very unlikely that he would have such an uneasy vanity as to be offended by those who doubt His existence - Russell

A drummer's drummer who has left an indelible mark in every group he has been involved with.

The story of prog could be made with just the recordings he has been on, think about it!

Unique figure in rock music. He played in Yes, King Crimson, Gong, National Health, Genesis, Pavlov's Dog, UK, ABWH, Bruford Levin Upper Extremities...Recorded rilliant albums with Patrick Moraz, Eddie Gomez and Ralph Towner. He had bands of his own - excellent fusion band, Bruford, then Earthworks, a modern jazz project...His contribution to elite rock music is absolutely outstanding. Happy birthday, Bill Bruford!

Wouldn't it be great if he came out of retirement?

    Hope he's happy and healthy.

Too bad he can't share his drumming talents with the world any more.

    Will never happen.

Bruford is already fully involved in his career in Academics.

Not sure why he'd want to think about touring again?

He got his PHD, but I hadn't heard that he was going to be remaining within the ivied walls.

    To please me.

That's how I feel as well. I never got a chance to see him live. I got into Yes and subsequently the world of "prog" around '92 and wasn't aware of him touring in my neck of the woods any time since then, although I may have missed him coming through without being aware.

Your birthday reminds us of a headbangers dream
I hope that the king thought to buy you ice Cream!

And toss the electrics out in the backyard!

Hell of a drummer. He's outstanding on RED. He's a big reason why that album is so good.
