Is this a reissue of the box that was previously available? One is blue and the other box is orange...
Details on the box? It is unknown to me.

A general question on TD live recordings... Is it correct that no archive live recordings from professionally-made multitracks have been released ? Like, outtakes from the "Ricochet" / "Encore" tours. If so, how does one account for the fact that Klaus Schulze has released countless hours of pristine-sounding live/studio recordings from his vintage era, whereas Tangerine Dream have only been able to collect bootlegs of varying quality and repackage them as boxes ? Did they neglect to record their shows, or have tapes been lost, locked in record company vaults due to legal issues, etc. ? Can someone explain what the deal is ?
Good question. One (unrelated to your questions) note is that the April 1975 is (I think) the only commercial release of the Michael Hoenig lineup.
Edgar Froese claims to have tapes of every single concert TD has ever done. What exactly that means is anybody's guess. These could be audience tapes we're talking about, two track soundboard tapes, multi-track tapes, recordings taken from radio broadcasts, or any combination thereof. Likewise for Schulze. Some (maybe even most) may be totally unlistenable.
As for why has Schulze released way more vintage stuff than TD, maybe because Schulze realizes his audience wanted to hear more stuff. Maybe he's in a different legal situation than Tangerine Dream are in vis-a-viz the Virgin era tapes.
From what I remember, Chris Franke has all of the soundboard recordings, and he and Froese parted on very bad terms.
How does this set compare to the original box in terms of sound quality?
