    Do Make Say Think

Scrolling through the archives, I was surprised to see the Toronto band Do Make Say Think doesn't have their own discussion (unless I missed something?). I think a lot of people who frequent this place would love these dudes. Check this out ~

Info about them at progarchives ~

There's a lot of great music to explore here!

They were discussed here a few years back. I tried to like them but I never ended up purchasing any of their music.

I like 'em but they can be hit or miss. Here's my two faves from them:

I've got three albums. The eponymous one (CST005), And Yet And Yet and Winter Hymn Country Hymn Secret Hymn.

Great artwork, but I really should listen to them again, because I can't remember one tune.

They're OK. If you want only one single DMST album, get Goodbye Enemy Airship the Landlord Is Dead, which has their most (IMO) memorable melodies and arrangements and comes across as less deliberately 'anonymous' in tone.

For downright excellent and sometimes spectacularly intense Canadian post-rock, I'd rather recommend Fond of Tigers.

Along with Godspeed and A Silver mt. Zion i'd say theseguys were the best of the post-rock bands, many of whom are pretty by the numbers. Winter Hymn Country Hymn Secret Hymn is the one to get imo, i saw them do Ontario Plates live and just melted

yeah I'm a fan, and I agree "Winter Hymn Country Hymn Secret Hymn" is probably their best. Great live band as well.

I was following them in the 90s but have kept only their first two Constellation releases, Do Make Say Think and Goodbye Enemy Airship The Landlord Is Dead. Can't easily listen to anything far from these albums, they sound rather overplayed stuff.

I enjoy them quite a bit. They've got enough Broken Social Scene in their DNA to keep me interested.

I'm a fan. I'm also a sucker for just about anything on the Constellation label. DMST, GYBE, ASMZ, Exhaust, Sofa, Le Fly Pan Am, etc.
