I think Tony McAlpine is really sick, colon cancer.
It would be a good addition if he was able.

Nuno is easily one of the best players out there. Terribly underrated & disrespected.

Mmm.......I just saw Extreme about a year ago and thought Bettencourt was really good. He is a pretty decent keyboard player as well. I have yet to see Albasi live, but I am sure he will be incredible as well.

I've listened to him...I don't see it. Guess his stuff just doesn't strike a chord with me. YMMV.

Two and a half hours of nonstop wankery, I'd imagine.

Maybe the problem is that you're trying to see it, not hear it.
I dare anyone to listen to "Waiting For The Punchline" and tell me it's not a killer guitar album.

Fair enough. I've never heard of that album but if I get a chance, I'll dive into it with an open mind (or ears as the case may be... )

Agree, one of the best rock "shredders" around! Of course, MacAlpine is great too, but there's no shortage of great guitar players with chops to spare; Greg Howe, Guthrie Govan, Brett Garsed, John Petrucci, John 5, etc. But 5 of them is already more than enough.

Not sure who was initially asked, who turned it down, etc. This will be quite the shredfest nonetheless.

They stripped everything down for that album after the slick and ambitious overproduction of the "III Sides" album. Just the band, with Mike Mangini drumming on a few tracks, and a studio. A nice raw sound.

Yeah, Nuno definitely shines in a band structure more than alone I reckon. But I would like to see him with this mix of players.

I actually prefer the slick and ambitious "overproduction" of the previous albums, but I do like "Punchline." Check out Nuno's solo at 2:34... in 7/4!
